3-2 flattered Portsmouth massively 19:07 - Oct 1 with 2541 views | Dubtractor | Obviously didn't feel like it as they pegged us back twice with penalties, but that was an utterly controlled performance wasn't it? First half we should have been out of sight, and we really do need to start being more clinical when we dominate teams, and even with them trying to spoil it all second half we made all the running and created all the chances. I was surprised by just how little threat they offered if I'm honest. Davis looks a better and better player every week doesn't he? My MOTM today.

Curtis was looking for it, absolutely threw himself over. The trip on Chaplin was much more clear cut, and as we have come to expect, was waved away.

First one was a penalty every day of the week tbf, Woolfy made a mess of that situation.

Was lovely to see him looking like last season's player for the entire game. The goal was the cherry on top, you could see it meant everything to him too. Davis does keep getting better and better, although there were still a couple of mistakes, but he's somehow gritty and graceful all at once.

Seen a replay of the second penalty and it is ludicrous. Morsy had already cleared the ball when the Portsmouth player clattered into him and went down.
3-2 flattered Portsmouth massively on 19:37 - Oct 1 with 2331 views | Chrisd | Terrific result, but why are we so vulnerable during that 5-10 minute period after we’ve scored, over confidence, complacency or lack of concentration? It’s not just today that it has happened, it’s been quite a few times this season. Nevertheless, that isn’t taking anything away from today’s result, that was a hugely impressive 3 points against a formally unbeaten and decent L1 side. [Post edited 1 Oct 2022 19:38]

3-2 flattered Portsmouth massively on 19:50 - Oct 1 with 2221 views | sohamblue74 | Agreed. Was surprised how poor they were. All time wasting and playing for set pieces. Typical Cowley nonsense. The centre halves were both slow and pretty crap. We were told to expect great things from Pack, but he was anonymous except one decent free kick. The lad from Spurs up front looked okay. Odd that Curtis didn't start.

Doesn’t do to compare it to the one Chaplin didn’t get last week!

Having just watched the highlights I’d argue that the first one is the same as the second one in terms of the player falling over our man rather than the man being taken out. Walton was already down and their player basically ran into him to buy a penalty

This. I called it at the time but my mate next to me said it was a defo pen. We're right he's wrong!

Having now seen the second one - it was never a penalty was it? Morsy hooked the ball clear, and matey basically ran into him. I can sort of see how the ref gave it, but it was wrong. Obviously doesn't matter now, but I'd have been pretty pissed if we'd not won after that.

All football fans feel aggrieved at decisions and think the world is against them. However, if that ended 2-2 it genuinely would have been 6 points from bad calls against us.

Both pathetic penalty decisions. we had a shout for a penalty in the first half but can’t seem to find any footage of it. Taking the three points will mean it’s all happily forgotten, but such poor officiating again.

3-2 flattered Portsmouth massively on 23:47 - Oct 1 with 1566 views | jeera | That they had to rely on two [dodgy] penalties to even get close shows how uneven the game was. The only time they looked much was for a spell in the second half when they started pressing us strongly but even then we regrouped and played through them. They were no Plymouth that's for sure. Davis was having a cracking game hence the way the dirty feckers targeted him the way they did. I couldn't understand how the first challenge, when the ball had already been played and their man followed through into Davis's leg, didn't receive more attention from the officials. That could have been worse and was clearly deliberate.

Admittedly we had one at Sheff Wed and still only took a point but invariably if we can get beyond a 1 goal lead we’ll go on and win games. Didn’t manage it today, but got the deserved result. Didn’t manage it when we were dominating last week and were made to pay, didn’t manage it vs. Barnsley either and proved costly. Easier said than done but I agree, taking those chances while we’re dominating is crucial.

It's not as if they were in any danger of scoring from that spot either Very frustrating but there you go, good prevailed over evil in the end

3-2 flattered Portsmouth massively on 06:49 - Oct 2 with 1236 views | ArnieM | Totally agree OP. Which is why I posted what exactly did Pompey offer? Nothing! Their only real shots in target can from two ref awarded penalties. HOW are they ( were) they 3rd? I can’t see them staying in the top 6 based on their performance yesterday.

Agree, he'd be MOTM if it wasn't for the fact that he's at that standard every week now, very solid, always makes the right decisions, the only step he made wrong was the little drag back where he nearly got caught out with in the first half, but he's so good he quickly recovered and went back to his usual of not putting a foot wrong again..

Indeed. And if we hadn't got the winner, Chrisd would've been along to say "Ah, see, I told you we can't beat the top 6 sides!" But as Joe Joe says, whilst every club can complain about poor decisions, it really has been ridiculous this season... and decisions that have cost us wins and points. Thankfully it didn't this time, but if we hadn't won it shouldn't be the team (again) or McKenna who gets the blame from some.
