Vieira 21:44 - Oct 18 with 1024 views | Westover | He's doing a good job at Palace I thought they were certs for relegation owing to the fact that a lot of the players were either old or out of contract and the end of last season, it's seems they have bought well and have a good chance of staying up.

Putting that extra defender on helped him...

Vieira on 12:00 - Oct 19 with 711 views | Radlett_blue | Palace played decent football last night, in stark contrast to much of the attritional rubbish they served up under Hodgson, although he did do an effective job of keeping them in the top tier for 4 seasons.

Though after 8 games last season, Palace were in the top half, had won 4x as many games as this season, scored more goals and conceded less

Really difficult situation to come into for Vieira I think. As we discovered to our cost, taking over a team that's slightly over-performed with one very rigid way of doing things is tricky. If you change nothing you're stuck in the last's guy rut, without the same expertise in their playing style. Change something and you risk the whole system collapsing into dysfunction. Then the underlying low quality the system had masked comes to the surface. [Post edited 19 Oct 2021 12:37]

Vieira on 12:35 - Oct 19 with 653 views | waveneyblue | Mind you, Arsenal looked a million miles from a top six team between them scoring and Lacazette coming on. Hope Vieira does well there, zero beef with Crystal Palace they defy the odds most years

And that's what happened at Palace when they brought in Frank de Boer. They failed to score in their first 4 league games, lost the lot & he was replaced by Hodgson. De Boer's only win was in the League Cup when Palace beat Town's youth team 2-1.

Yeah, I'm sure a lot of Palace fans would've been concerned about that happening again. 14th, 5 points clear of the bottom 3, difficult to beat, competitive in 6 games out of 8, is a steady start considering.
