Not Labour.

Not in the same scale but shades of “Starmer protected Jimmy Savile”.

It's not a good look, but we all make mistakes and this is a fairly small one compared to the countless Tory 'mistakes' you fail to start threads on. Like Suella Braverman literally being racist on national TV last week. Far worse than this, but where was your indignation then?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

You're right Dolly. I never condemn Braverman for her vile rhetoric

Far-right rhetoric from Braverman by GlasgowBlue 1 Nov 2022 9:32
People of colour can be racist Harry.

Braverman’s rhetoric was deplorable. Presenting refugees as a threat and invaders makes them a target.

She is an utterly vile human being. Her sex and colour are irrelevant, and calling her vile is neither racist or misogynistic.

They are trying to out-Tory the Tories in many respects. The party of law and order, lower taxes - these are all traditional Tory lines.

You mean the lines that win votes?

I didn't see the comment from last week. If it came from Braverman's mouth then the chances are it would have been either vile or racist. She's a vile human being.

Now good puppy. Sit. There's your treat.

Astonishing that someone so up on political matters didn't see that. Dunno why but I get the feeling if Jeremy Corbyn had said, "White English girls were being pursued, raped, drugged, and harmed by gangs of British Pakistani men" you probably would've noticed it.

But anyway, I was just using one example, which you've honed in on because you got all excited remembering you put her down last year. The point is there are loads and loads and loads of Tory misdemeanours, on a weekly basis, which you don't feel the need to start threads on.

Anyway there's little point debating political matters with you, you'll just run away from the thread like you did the last Corbyn one (despite ironically calling me a swerver because I didn't reply within half an hour across lunchtime).

Have a lovely bank holiday Glassers, enjoy the game x

They are mainly winning because the Tories have spent the last 3 years imploding. Lines like "the party of law and order" may play well to sections of society but they are meaningless platitudes that do nothing to improve the lives of the electorate. The Tories did a great job of using empty slogans to secure a landslide in 2019, how's that working out for everyone?

So disappointed to see this today.
It just shows a complete lack of class.
As others have mentioned, as a life long Labour supporter, I find so much about the current party a turn off.
Of course I'll vote for them ( not that it matters in South Cambs), as we need to remove the current incumbent scourge.
There is plenty of safe space on the left. I would just like to see Starmer et al move teensy bit towards it.

The two main political parties in this country are tired and cynical in the pursuit of the middle. It’s like a typical Mick team playing a Big Sam side with both playing for set pieces rather than using flair and imagination.

It’s all rather depressing - the fear of upsetting Brexiters and Murdoch have just led to stagnation. Anyone would think Marcus Evans was PM.

And the centre has been steadily pulled rightwards by the media and the likes of Farage and the ERG, which means fairly moderate social democratic policies get painted as being radically left wing. There's no room for anything remotely progressive that might actually benefit the majority of the public. It's all maintaining the status quo that favours the wealthy and not too many others whilst tinkering apologetically around the edges or creating false enemies to deflect attention. Painfully depressing stuff. The political equivalent of the Lambert years.

Utterly disgusting that in the same week she said that, you were posting links to Shakin Stevens videos and not condemning Braverman’s racist rhetoric.

And where were you when the rest of us were condemning Tom Hunt last week?

Tom Hunt denying the far right were at the Novotel protests, now defending Nazis by GlasgowBlue 1 Apr 2023 7:28
What a piece of Sh1t Tom Hunt is.

Everybody knows these events are coordinated by far right racist groups who roll into town to whip up the local simpletons.

Hope Not Hate are all over this.

https://hopenothate.org.uk/migrant-hunters/

Tom Hunt will know this and to deny it makes him complicit in stoking up hate against migrants.

U CARE MORE ABOUT THIS OLE HOUSE THAN U DO ABOUT RACISM!!!!!!

i don't like that tweet. but law and order is a key thing for the labour party to campaign on. it deals with issues which directly impact the lives of people who need to vote for it (working class / middle class not rich enough to be able to isolate themselves from the realities of the world). it is also an area where this government is failing utterly. so bad tweet, but right place for the party to be. the key is empathy for what matters to electors rather than contempt for them.

If you think being the party of law and order is what most folk need when working households are having to choose between heating and eating then I'd say it's you and your stiffy for the games of party politics that shows contempt for the electorate.

Yer, this is definitely the main concern of working class families. It's not wether they can afford to keep the heating on or wether they can afford to feed the kids on the day before payday. Labour clearly has its finger on the pulse when it comes to the concerns of the working class

where did i say 'party of law and order'? i said it's a key area to campaign on because it impacts the lives of real people. stagnating real incomes is indeed another key area. in both cases the party needs to listen to the electorate - not some lefty demographic on tweeter and football message boards - and engage with what matters to them. i know the electorate is a great disappointment to you, and i'm sure we all feel your pain.
