All that money spent... 21:00 - Jan 25 with 2691 viewsFightingEssex

and we look, play and act like a team in the middle of League One. Even if we win tonight, this team absolutely deserves to be in this league, even if the club doesn't. They are no better than what we had the past two seasons. Cook really did a number on people with this mob, he pissed that money away. We can't continue to kid ourselves over this squad, we are bang average, and our best player this season isn't even ours. This is no different from the rubbish served up in the Evans, just in a league lower.

So what you’re saying is that we’re a league one club in league one?

Mick proved that its not about the money you spend but how you use your resources ( in whatever league you are in ).

Morsy, Coulson, Penney, Fraser and Evans out would impact any side in this division. Bonne, Chaplin, Celina, Pigott on the bench. It was far from vintage and we'll play better than we did tonight, but we're only the 3rd team to win there all season. I think people have unrealistic expectations at times, there are very few sides better than us at this level. We just need to find a level of consistency.

Overall the position of the team says it’s bang average, but looking a little more closely I’m not sure that’s the case. Throwing a team together for the start of the season asked for trouble and we got it. No wins in seven. It’s why we are so far behind. Cook’s plan, if there was one, was wasteful and chaotic.

Five month on, in my opinion, the big difference is that the previous team under Lambert and Evans didn’t have the ability to compete let alone beat the better teams. In two seasons we managed a paltry win at Hull, who were woefully out of form at that point, and that was about it. The current team has been better than a lot of the sides above them and beaten some of them. It’s potential is far higher.

I also believe the quality and age of the players in general is higher. Are we short in some areas? Yes. Is the team a little unbalanced? Maybe. However, I don’t think this side is too far away from being a seriously good one for this level

for me the back 4 are top drawer for this league, Burns and Morsy too. If we can get Bonne banging them in and sort LWB as I’m not sure KVY is the answer we will take some stopping

Did you go to the game?

I went, and can't remember them having an attack or shot on goal? We dominated start to finish without penetrating. Remember we changed all three front players from Saturday!

They definitely caused a few issues 2nd half and had a couple of chance. There were a couple of blocks on line, or save from Walton and i think one hit the post (not the first half shot which wouldn't have counted).

But I agree with your general point that we generally dominated and were much the better side, just missed creativity from a central position.
