Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? 09:04 - Nov 8 with 3267 views | Dubtractor | McKenna has a tough decision to make on who partners Morsy on Saturday. Ball will already be frustrated by how little football he has had since signing, and won't have come here to be a regular bench warmer. But there is no hiding from the fact he has looked average at best for us so far, and Humphreys looks impressive every time he gets a game. I suspect McKenna will play it safe and pick Ball, but I'd far rather see Humphreys get the nod, as we need the passing range that he brings and Ball doesn't.

humphreys, to me, has proven he's physically up for the fight of these tough teams

Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 09:24 - Nov 8 with 2577 views | cbower | ^^This. If fit, Ball will start but he doesn't deserve it on last night's showing. He was poor against limited opposition, giving away possession on countless occasions.

Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 09:25 - Nov 8 with 2571 views | itfcsuth | Ball probably - for the fact that he is that more defensive minded midfielder, and allows Sam Morsy to be a little bit more advanced. I do think Humphreys is a super talent though. Walton Donacien - Woolfenden - Burgess Burns - Ball - Morsy - Davis Chaplin - Edwards Ladapo
Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 09:27 - Nov 8 with 2559 views | rickw | Based on last night then Humphries, however it appears Cheltenham play a direct style of play so I'd imagine Ball will get the nod due to his size and physicality

Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 09:28 - Nov 8 with 2553 views | ArnoldMoorhen | I hope that over the course of the season Humphreys becomes one of the two playmakers, with Evans, and Ball is seen as one of the two who put some steel or backbone into our midfield, with Morsy. And that, in most games, you need one of each type on the pitch at all times. Obviously Morsy has more to him than that, and Evans and Humphreys aren't lightweights, but the team functions best, in my opinion when there are one from each pair on. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That's pretty much how I see things too. Ideally you have one from each of those two pairings, gives the ideal mix of steel and passing.

Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 09:33 - Nov 8 with 2512 views | TalkingBlues | It really isn't a tough call, the youngster has been one of the best players on the park every time he's played and he offers us something we don't get from anybody else that's currently fit and available, it's a no-brainer for me.

Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 09:54 - Nov 8 with 2429 views | homer_123 | It's not a difficult decision I think. Start with Ball with Humphreys coming off the bench. Ball needs minutes, he's had some good spells with us but is suffering from lack of match minutes. I think it's right to start him but Humphreys as the option from the bench (at any point) if it's not working.

Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 09:56 - Nov 8 with 2412 views | Vaughan8 | Based on last night its a no-brainer football-wise. It has to be Humphreys. However, is Ball's confidence going to drop if he isn't next in line? He's back a fair while now so he can't not be "fit". First half last night he looked terrible.
Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 09:57 - Nov 8 with 2403 views | LeoMuff | Surely Humpheries, we will have tons of possession and will need to break them down, he don’t need someone as defensive as Ball against Cheltenham.

Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 09:58 - Nov 8 with 2393 views | Chrisd | I'd start Humphreys. Give him the license to break into the box and play more advanced, he can play those clever balls through the defence too. Get him in areas of the pitch which will hurt the opposition. Let Morsy be that protective shield in front of the CBs.

Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 10:14 - Nov 8 with 2293 views | Vic | Tough call to make. Ball is a tried and tested player; might not quite have done it for us yet, but he has a great track record. Wouldn't be particularly good man management to drop him simply because of one below average game (last night) as some are suggesting. Humphreys is an emerging star and needs to get game time. There's little room for sentiment in football and if in the opinion of the decision makers he's going to have a greater positive impact on the game than Ball then he should play. Personally I'd start with Ball but make it clear to both that all things being equal Humphreys will get a decent amount minutes in the game. Neither can really argue with that.

I suspect that is the approach McKenna will take. I aware that I may be coming across as a Ball 'hater' after the thread last night (where he was very poor), but I am sure there is a player there that just hasn't quite clicked for us yet. He looked decent in spells against Charlton, driving us forward at times, but it all seems a bit patchy.

Ball or Humphreys on Saturday? on 10:23 - Nov 8 with 2209 views | RIPbobby | I feel a bit for ball. The more he tries the more it seems to go wrong for him. I think it will suit him better against better teams. At the moment everyone is pretty much playing the same way to stifle us. If a team actually tries to beat us then I think ball will be worth his weight in gold.

True, but I'm also wondering if Camara is likely to play further forward, with a pair behind him?
