Cyclists don't pay road tax..... on 15:13 - Jul 29 with 720 views | Bloots |
There is a distinct difference.... on 15:10 - Jul 29 by The_Flashing_Smile | Why should cyclists be limited? They were here first! You also miss the point - motorists doing it less isn't because they're paragons of virtue, it's because they can't get away with it. Far more motorists would go through reds than cyclists if they also didn't have registration plates. The answer is probably some sort of registration plate for cyclists (could be small like a QR code that cameras would pick up). |
....so they should be treated as second class citizens. And they stink. Simple.

What's rubbish about it? Try engaging rather than belittling. I know it's hard for you but at least try if you don't want to look a simpleton. It's pretty obvious lots of motorists would jump red lights if they could get away with it. That many do now, even with number plates, shows how rife it would be without.

And plenty of car users don't pay vehicle excise either (because of low emissions)

....whatever. The point is that cyclists add nothing to the treasury for the maintenance of the road network. Plus they always ride 2 or 3 abreast and shave their legs. Sod em.

So wrong. Road maintenance is paid for through general taxation. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

No, your point is still wrong. Cyclists pay into the treasury for the maintenance of the road network via their taxes, like everyone else does.

....unlike motorists. There should be a "wearing lycra while you sit on a saddle, stinking" tax Or a "stupid little dinging bell" tax. I'm right. You are wrong. As usual.

Ah you've changed from "they pay nothing" to "they pay nothing additional" now. We all saw you do that, no point hiding. And even adding that you're still wrong on many occasions, as a large proportion of cyclists, like myself, have cars. You're not very good at this are you?

And a number of cars have zero VED (which is presumably the "additional"), so those motorists don't pay it either. You could argue that, given that the lycra-clad cycling is quite a middle-class activity, cyclists will be contributing more to road maintenance through their general taxation than many motorists. Yeah not only that but bikes take up less room and cause less wear and tear to the road networks with it. I thought this bUt rOaD tAX argument had been put to bed a long time ago. Absolute bottom of the barrel garbage

To be fair to Blootsy Baby, motorists do pay a tax in addition to what cyclists pay (although only cyclists who don't also have cars).

No, you had to change what you originally said because you were wrong. You also claimed there's a road tax, which was wrong. You're getting schooled by Dollers. The embarrassment! Even *I* feel for you. Probably best to stop digging now though fella.

....too many cyclists. They think they own the road, when in reality they should be confined to those wooden bowl circuit things they use in the Olympics.
