What a guy, like most completely judged him before he kicked a ball for us and how wrong was I! So calm and classy on the ball and putting himself about today as well. I’d argue he’s up there with fridge for player of the season so far.

I didn't judge him, but I will admit his signing surprised me. That said, he's done a good job this season.

We are a club who have signed so many unfancied players who turned out to be really good. I don't know why people never learn.

Truly impaired.

He was. Wes was good too, as was Eddie at the back.

Outstanding today. Got the ball under pressure but kept it so well and passed or ran it out. Really good. Better than anyone else has done in that no10 role

We could do a lot worse than give him the captains armband. Overall our most consistent performer.

Playing in the whole behind the front 2! He was outstanding!
Burns 1st game back was good too.

Yep very good, MOM imo, just wished that snap shot at the end would have flown into the top corner, would have topped of a great performance, the occasion deserved that too, but we never seem to score late winners these days sadly...

For what its worth, he did ok in the week at Barrow in fairness...

He did look more of a driving force than Morsy. He did so much good work in there today, good on the ball, good at getting the ball back.

I think too many were just not aware of what a good player he's been over the years. Really odd.

As an aside, I've heard two pronunciations of Aluko's first name over the years:

I always thought it was 'Shaun-ay' but most seem to be saying 'Sonny'.

Any ideas?

My favourite attribute of his is how, when faced with opposition players, numbers don't seem to always be a consideration.

There can one, two, five...

He doesn't seem to consider it too much of an obstacle.

Superb today, he looks a completely different player when playing in that central role rather than out wide - may not be as fast as he used to be but his touch and close control is excellent, and I was really impressed with some of his passing.

Will be loads of competition in that position between him, Chaplin and Celina so Mckenna will have lots to think about.

I always thought it Son (like the Tottenham player) ey (like the first letter of the alphabet). Just to throw a third version in there.

In his first town interview they call him Sonny, so I assume they checked first!

I wouldn't bank on it. I've never heard the correct pronunciation of Ole Gunnar Solskjær's name by the British commentators.

Do we need Celina?

I think Aluko, Chaplin or even Fraser could do a more consistent job in that role. Celina’s a potential match winner, but is mostly a passenger and if we’re looking to build longer term, could we cut his loan short? It could free up wages and a place in the 22 to allow players to be brought in. And how injury prone is he? Coulsen, too. Another loanee that his injury issues and we’ve got to start looking at shipping players out.
Celina has contributed to his highlight reel this season, but we need players who can do the dirty stuff game in, game out.
