That's a really good, gritty win 21:46 - Aug 16 with 1012 views | Steve_M | There are plenty of things in that game that we could have done better - ball given away cheaply a bit too often - but we had the confidence to keep playing the game our way and opened up the space to the point Harness had no-one near him for the goal. I thought Jackson was superb second half, worked his arse off defensively and still had the legs to go up front late on but he was far from alone. Promptions are won not he back of games like today not Saturday (although they help too). Now, let's follow this one up on Saturday. COYFB.

That's a really good, gritty win on 21:51 - Aug 16 with 936 views | ibbleobble | 3 points and a clean sheet without playing well. Bringing out old cliches but isn’t that the mark of a good side? Some positives but a lot of negatives and some really poor decision making throughout. Gritty yes. Lucky yes. Happy yes but let’s not see too many more of those displays otherwise we’ll come unstuck more often than not.

The very place we need to be scratching a win when we weren't great. Saw the game out well. [Post edited 16 Aug 2022 22:32]

OK, the rain was hammering down and Burton were always launching it long into our penalty area, but I thought our escape passing from defence often encouraged the opposition - and when we did manage to turn defence into attack, we look laboured at times. Chaplin's cameo showed how it should be done. Still, a very good result against a team that will occasionally thrash a top team at this level -but could also occasionally get hammered themselves. Walton was the diffrenece.

As the first half wore on, I actually became more convinced we were deliberately drawing them in to press us, effectively encouraging them to do that. The escape ball nearly worked a couple of times where they committed so many players forwards in the press that a diagonal ball got us on the attack. Second half, we raised the tempo and whilst they hadn’t quite burnt out with all that first half chasing, it was clear which was the stronger team. There were errors for sure but I’m not sure all the final third effort from Burton in the first half wasn’t part of our game plan.
