She doesn't seem exactly universally popular even in her own country -
There are always going to be dissenting voices, and at this time when we all need to pull together I haven't been broaching the subject with my neighbours. One good friend has said how much she enjoyed the Janey Godley's spoof videos (Glassers posted one or two of these - see ). But, if anything, such japes endear her to us and make us appreciate her straightforward stance. And apparently Nicola has a laugh at the spoof videos. We get suspicious of her Spider Queen act and every SNP member a stitched up operative in the web she has woven but then we look south at what you have to put up with and feel a bit of relief.

The sheer extent & heated depth of feeling (no exaggeration to call it hatred) against her really surprised me though.

The vast majority of those commenting there look real enough to me.
I didn't say that all the posts on Facebook and Twitter were made by bots, I said that more and more decent folk leave them alone. That doesn't mean that everyone who posts on Facebook and Twitter are bad people...but almost all the bad people post on Facebook and Twitter.

I don't think Philosopher Mode WWZ would approve of Horribly Loose Generalisation Mode WWZ just displayed there ... evidence please!
I'm sure I could easily find you Twitter threads expressing the exact opposite views & feelings about Sturgeon if that would help? (but not for quite a few hours, bedtime now).

Yeah, I've got errands to run for neighbours in the morning so I am signing out too.
(You're right, I don't have anything other than anecdotal evidence i.e. a friend on Skye but she is originally from Holmfirth, quote 'oh yeah, Facebook's horrible')

The “hatred” directed at her is based in the fact that he ultimate political aim is the break up if the Union.
She gets the type of negative feeling from some unionists in the same way that BJ will never be forgiven by some for being a major player in the U.K. voting to leave the EU.
Sturgeon could personally develop a cure for Covid-19 and she would still getting stick from a vocal minority of hardline unionists.
She’s also come in for a lot of legitimate criticism over the state of education and the NHS in Scotland which are both devolved from the rest of the U.K. then there is the Alex Salmond scandal if which she was seen as covering up in the early stages.
Regardless of any of the above, she has been superb in delivering a clear message during the pandemic and has never shirked away from difficult questions. And if she doesn’t know the answer to a question from the press she doesn’t try to blag her way through. She will say that she doesn’t know the answer, will find out and write to the journalist with the answer.
