with the 100 seemingly an attempt to dumb down cricket even further what else could be attempted?

Football - bigger goals, half hour halves, power plays where the goalies are taken off

Rugby Union - well just watch football

Best rule hockey introduced is the self pass from free hot and no one allowed to tackle for 5m ( when it’s within 5m of the attacking D the ball must travel 5m before being played in ). It’s sped the game up and encourages attacking play. Anyone getting in the way before it goes 5m finds themselves sitting out 2minutes.

I can see a way for rolling subs to come into football I think that could work.

Yeah, that’s a good rule.

I’m going even further back and showing my age but when they moved offside to thirty yards and then did away completely with offside the game became much, much better. And as a midfield/forward player we could finally stretch the defence and/or play through balls rather than forcing mistakes or repetitively trying to engineer 2 v 1s.

Formula 1 sprint races.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

I've always expected 3 team matches, with three goals, played on a hexagonal pitch to take off, but it never has.

That could be extended to other sports, three-person boxing for example. Probably not jousting though.

Two balls to double the excitement.

How about every 10 minutes without a goal, another ball is added? Maybe take one away when a goal is scored

EDIT: Obviously as long as this doesn't leave you with 0 balls in play

How about merging F1 and cycling?

VAR ?

Or how about - Attaching all the players to each other across the pitch on long poles, and the manager can organise them by running up and down the touchline and turning the poles (obviously back in the day David Pleat would've had an advantage on doing this)

Catching the hammer, shot, javelin and discus. Also relays with these items - you throw, your team mate starts running from where you threw it, collects, throws and so on.

Could call it the anti-vaxxer games and let them get all of their jeopardy in one day.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Obviously the cars have to stop but to make it more realistic stopping would be optional for cyclists

Blimey. I was having a blond moment.

Thought you meant "two balls" to double the excitment. As in the mens game would be double the excitement. Didn't have you down as sexist.

I jokingly shouted "he's offside ump" at a veteran umpire I know during a game last season, he blew his whistle and signalled a 16 🤦

They did a three team cricket match last year, although not quite as wild as what you're suggesting, it was pretty weird. The highlights on YouTube aren't very good, but I remember BBC Sport reporting on it.
