It wasn't a throw-away comment though, it was the climax of months of anti-Cook posts. His agenda was clear once his mate had been deemed surplus to requirements. It was personal.

When I say throw away, I'm meaning silly. Obviously PC isn't a nobody. He's achieved a great deal in football.

In terms of Ipswich Town, Chambers has contributed far more than Paul Cook.

But if results and performances had been outstanding then it would have been unnecessary whinging and sour grapes. But Joe's reservations were backed up by poor performances, lack of tactical nous and a return to the Lambingo style of throw a few different players into the mix and see if that helps.

And it wasn't after Chambers was given his marching orders. Joe, Herbie and others were raising concerns about PC when he couldn't get a tune out of a squad that was in 7th and a couple of points off the play offs. Well before the Chambers decision.

I was getting stick for being anti-Cook before Chambers was even released because he did such a rubbish job last year and I didn't think the chuck all the players under the bus approach was the right one.

I'm sure someone can go back and get the'receipts' rather than follow the narrative that I'm anti Cook because he released Chamber s- i Was much more annoyed re the academy players, and still am.

which academy players, joe? nydam? bish?

I've had this earlier in the thread, so don't really want to go over old ground - and have covered it (and this post) on tomorrows Blue Monday podcast.

I just felt that the demolition man thing was disrespectful, and over the top and unnecessary

Ok mate, I have to take your word on that. But you have consistently said that you wanted Cook to succeed, but your post ‘nobody’ comment suggested a complete lack of respect for him and confirmed the undercurrent of criticism many of your posts contained.

I’ve no axe to grind so will leave it there. Just bring back the old Joe soon!

What I'm struggling to understand here is..... on 21:37 - Dec 5 with 1070 viewsBloots

....how can calling an ex manager, who achieved a win rate of less than 30% and left us languishing mid table in the 3rd division, a "nobody" is considered disrespectful.

But slagging off a player who played nearly 400 games for the club, was our captain for 7 years and player of the year twice, is considered acceptable.

The Cult of Cook is very strong in some of you lot.

I did want him to succeed, and I'm hugely frustrated he hasn't as desperately want to be out of this league - the 1st rounds of the FA Cup and the Pizza Trophy!

I didn't dislike the guy, and wish that those who have been pining to have a go at me would be doing so when Cook has succeeded rather than when he has failed

Ehhh. You called Cook a nobody. That's pretty poor and certainly classless. Chambers withdrawing his childish text after many had seen it is hardly him regretting posting it in the first place.

This is really clutching at straws if you're trying to find something to villainise Joe for. The way people pile in on here and constantly poke at him is tantamount to bullying really.

Previous managers have been berated on here for not succeeding at a much higher rate than Cook ever has been. At the end of last season Joe was one of the minority who questioned whether Cook should have more responsibility for the poor results. I don't feel particularly strongly either way about Cook being sacked, but Cook didn't really do much to prove Joe wrong.

It’s a forum. Joe has strong opinions and will get strong counters from time to time. And if he writes something objectionable he’ll get people objecting.

How is that different from anyone else?

Because he attracts more than his fair share of uncomfortable stuff without asking for it DK.

It was only a few weeks ago someone had become quite obsessive with him and started following him about on here.

When challenged and called out as being obsessive he rubbished it and said he had no special interest in Joe. Whilst almost simultaneously posting about Joe's personal family background.

Having debates is fine. Targeting individuals, ganging up on them, and involving their families is different.

Am intrigued by all these claims about "how it was done" and how late in the day they are emerging.

I am guessing that noone making these claims was there, and at best they have second or third hand biased accounts?

But I’m not seeing that here. Just people reacting to a pretty cheap shot.

'Vanity project'? There seems to be an some ill feeling towards Joe from a few on here. Not sure what he's done to deserve this.

It's an Ipswich Town FC forum. Joe is part of an Ipswich Town podcast*. Why shouldn't he mention it. And why do you believe to be a vanity project?

*I have never watched or listed to Joe's podcast. Or the KOA. Or Cruncher's podcast. Not my sort of thing.
