Does he hate ipswich? Was ecstatic when Burnley scored. I get you can't be too biased but come on mate. Maybe he had a bet on 😂

I love that clip, it's one of my favourite Town clips, I can't but help watch it on repeat. But for me it does show both sides of the Brenner argument, before the Coventry equaliser he seems to be urging them on 'last chance for Coventry, they need to get it forward quickly', which is exactly the sort of thing people complain about, and then there's the reaction when Town get the winner, it's fantastic, he and Mathie are both absolutely delighted, you can almost imagine them dancing in the press box.

Totally disagree. He wasn’t urging them on at all.

Do people expect him to commentate totally monotinously unless town score or something?

He is trying to convey to those watching what he is seeing on the pitch. Him getting more excited / energised (whatever you want to call it) helps convey that something is happening on the pitch.

Do you sit in the stands, watching the opposition get near the goal and just sit their calmly? No your heart rate increases, you stand up, you fidget etc.

It's the jarring in-takes of breath through his teeth that make me turn the radio off. Once you've noticed you can't ignore them.

Matt Bellamy from Muse has a similar issue for me.

Right. Firstly he's praising Delaney.
Then (at 1:43) he says "Fingernails at the ready" - suggesting nerves about Town holding on (in no way urging Coventry on).
The bit where you suggest he's urging them on - Coventry throw the ball BACKWARDS (to the keeper), so saying they need to get it forward quickly is just stating a fact.
The "last chance for Coventry" line is way before that - you've made it look like part of the same sentence - and again is just a statement of fact, adding to the tension he's reporting on.
Then, of course, him and Mathie go mental at the end.

There's nothing there that suggests any kind of support for Coventry - unless you're desperately looking for some.

Whenever this 'Brenner favours the opposition' nonsense comes up you can always do the same as I've just done; pick out plenty of examples where what he actually says favours us. On multiple occasions.

Some people are so weird. Like I've said before, it's like they can't handle Ipswich doing anything wrong and need someone to blame, so effectively 'shoot the messenger'. It's really odd.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Don't be a Berk! Listen to what he says for Christ's sake!

He may be a Newcastle fan but there's absolutely no doubting Brenner's love for Ipswich Town.

I actually think it's good to have local journo's having Town as their second team, not so emotionally involved, think Stuart supports Everton, Andy West Ham and Mark Derby, sometimes it's easier to have a clearer picture of things and a better perspective.
