Well it's "shame" but in the sense of self preservation. If he thinks he's going to lose power and influence he will be shamed back. It'll be for purely selfish reasons of course.

As for the backing of Trump from him and other Republicans, it's almost like that "Behind The Curve" documentary where people clearly know it's rubbish but keep on inventing ways to themselves to justify their ever more bizarre behaviour in their attempts to prove/support something obviously incorrect.

Oh, and them being total tools as well.
