Journalism aside, I wonder what the neutral would make of this board today 16:54 - Dec 2 with 6100 viewsLockdownleonard

Lots of very aggressive content and much of it quite childish.
Perhaps the association with such content influences the ease with which it can be referred to as a fans forum when considering who is right and who is wrong between PL and his SMT and the fanbase.
I just don’t think it helps.

"Aggressive"? Where? I've always stood against that on here, and despite reading the forum extensively over the last few days, can't say I've seen it - if anything, the forum's totally united behind Phil over Hamban-gate, and it's only your 2 posts that have actually shown aggression & childishness.

You don't half remind me of someone tho.

I suspect Phil is being polite, given the support being shown generally, but from a PR perspective the full impact of the events have been lost, because the ‘forum’ tag seems appropriate given the vitriol and ‘anti’ ITFC messages posted today.
Let’s hope Lambert walks or another club is prepared to buy out the remainder of this crazy contract.

Like this, you mean?

As I said, a bang average effort. To screw it up in the space of the day is amateurish. I wouldn't waste any more time on it, tbh.

My question was more about the impact that a reduction in income would have on the way the owner thinks.
As someone who has worked in business and PR for many years, I can see the logic behind adopting that as a strategic approach, over placards and directing abuse at a Champions League winning athlete.
Changing the viewpoint of a highly successful businessman is a subtle and sensitive skill in itself and it’s fair to say that the average football fan won’t understand where I’m coming from when I say that.

Wow, you've worked out that a businessman receiving less money may change his thinking. Congratulations, professor.

I really don't know why I'm replying, obvious troll is obvious. And this one particularly boring.

When has 'employing an aggressive incompetent to build up your business and public/media relations' ever worked as a strategy?

i'm not sure that wanting your football team to be well-run, vaguely respectful to local media and actually able to compete in the third division is particularly childish. Neither is getting angry about ongoing incompetence, lack of planning and open lying.

As for aggression, if anything, it's been a lot more measured and thoughtful on here these past few days than it has been for a long while.

Again, I'd be interested to hear The_Realist_09's actual view on this, rather than just see a downvote.

I might be wrong, but to me you're coming across as someone who is simply posing as a fan, but are not one of the usual budgie trolls. Given your repetitions along the lines of "Evans is a highly successful businessman" etc., I'm actually wondering if you're from within Portman Rd - which really would be quite something ...

These things all seem obvious until you stand back, breathe and take an holistic viewpoint of what is happening.
Reputations, egos and being seen to be corrected are huge factors- particularly in industries supported by benefactors and where profit is often not possible or attainable.
Understanding the psyche behind these people is absolutely key, if you are ever going to effect positive change within the organisations which they control.
I’m not criticising you, but I do know what I’m taking about believe me.

I’d be more than happy to shape the TWTD response to what has gone on if required.

There is a strong argument for separating the ‘news’ arm of it, from the less formal message board and that could ultimately make a huge difference to its ability to be seen as more credible within the EFL industry.

The responses to my posts provide clear cases in point and whilst I’m not too upset by them I do find it disappointing from a fans perspective.

So your suggestion to get rid of Lambert ( and Evans ) is to massage their egos and agree with everything they say. Did you get your qualifications in Trump University by any chance? You are a better creation than TrumpLambert.

I imagine Phil will give a great deal of thought to this very kind offer but I would think that there are many things far more deserving of your undoubted talents than a 'fanzine' of a third division football club.

"Lots of very aggressive content and much of it quite childish."

Like what? Are you talking generally? Give some examples. Okay there has been some typical keyboard warrior terminology, but nothing really abusive or aggressive. Sitters called Lee a tosser for example. Something he probably would not not have said in a heated exchange with him at an AGM or in the pub or whatever. But come on, it's the internet, he's a p1ssed off fan, and the tone is not aggressive. He's well known here and a gentle soul all said and done. He's not a random unknown bod. Show me examples? You may be right, I have not looked at every post, obviously.

"Perhaps the association with such content influences the ease with which it can be referred to as a fans forum when considering who is right and who is wrong between PL and his SMT and the fanbase."

You are out of touch, out of date and engaging in things you sound totally and utterly ill equipped to handle. This website is first and foremost a news media service. The forum is an adjunct. And for what it's worth, it is a community not just a forum or message board. You may be surprised at what many of the people who have posted here for twenty years plus do for a living, what they have seen, what they know, and who they are.

"I just don’t think it helps."

It certainly doesn't. But that is where we are. There is no coming back from here. For Lambert, absolutely. For Evans? Probably not. You can relay that to Marcus, not that it will make much difference. I can't boycott his business, except ironically "my" club. So tell him thanks for that.

He should know the ground swell of opinion has finally reached a critical mass though. It's not really much to do with another spat with a media company, though I can't deny the strength of feeling among many TWTD users. It doesn't surprise me tbh, but it's a sideshow and a distraction. His investment is dead. The fans are against him. We will do everything legal to demonstrate that. I know it's no threat but you see, it does not need such aggressive language anyway. He is killing our club and we are done with it. No one feels guilty any more about withdrawing support or backing of any kind. His name is muck.

We've supported for as long as is reasonable. Enough is enough.

I’ve supported the club for almost three decades and I’m struggling to think of any other occasion where there has been a requirement for such an important intervention by representatives of the fanbase.
This is an opportunity for Town fans to be seen as influential in the shaping of their own future and without sounding patronising it could be the biggest reason to celebrate in over a decade.
It’s up to the whole group to once again come together and be strong, rather than just accepting whatever misfortune comes their way.
