Funnily enough this is the opposite to my experience. Few friends got a Dyson and returned them as they weren't great and went for Shark instead. |

Dyson was reliable, still got it after 12 years of it being hammered. Had a rechargeable Vax I think it was, lasted 6 months. Chucked it out. Also got a Henry, that is fantastic. And a Vax carpet cleaner that cost me £350 from John Lewis. Still yet to use that. |  | | |

Not bought a Shark VC, but do have their steam cleaner. Great purchase, works brilliantly on both wooden floor and carpet. Rarely use the VC now, as the steam cleaner is better for most things. |  |
