On my local village FB group today someone posted "Anyone had a black guy in a high vis jacket knock on their door today?"
Now, there have been some burglaries and dodgy callers recently so I understand immediately why information is being shared about an unusual caller. I equally understand the discomfort that many immediately feel on reading a description like that.
The reply was "Just a man in high vis would have done." To which the OP replied "I was being descriptive. If it was a white guy I would haev said white" and has now had 3 uppies.
I don't believe for a second that she would have said "white". Equally though, it is a useful descriptive, as I am aware of only one black family in the village and not being a white person in this particular village is therefore a very obvious descriptor.

So far as we know she still hasn't. Unless knocking on a door as a highly visible black man is a crime these days.
You're being facetious and have decided to remove all context. Crimes have been committed and dodgy callers mentioned. So in this woman's mind there could be a link to the crimes and this unknown chap knocking on doors. Perfectly reasonable on the face of it.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Now we're getting a better idea.
So black guy, wearing hi-viz, with an Irish accent.
This should be a doddle for plod.
If Mr Slater here was to believe our descriptions he'd have his men out searching for someone who was a cross between Tom Thumb and the Jolly Green Giant.
