Haven't been so excited about a managerial appt. since, well ... ever. 20:40 - Dec 16 with 6946 viewsRyorry

Let's face it, state we're in we weren't going to be able to land any proven top quality man, needed someone wanting to make a name for himself who relishes a challenge & knows enough to take us all the way to the top! (OK, feel free to bookmark this & bring it back to embarrass me if I turn out to be horribly wrong )

I imagine all our players would respect & listen to him & his coaches too, pretty crucial, they 100% need to shape up.

Fool.

Is there anyone here lives near Keanish? Can they go and check that he's OK?
He's taken the departure of two Dear Leaders in the space of a year very hard.

Why would Sam Morsy who’s played in a World Cup listen to a man a few years older than him who didn’t make it as a professional?

I don't get what the big problem is. I'm not particularly impressed with the appointment but Keanish is making out we've re-appointed Keane or something.

At least this is a different, slightly left-field appointment. I also don't believe based on information from those ITK and general feelings that this was our primary target.

Up for anything that ends this era of 'bantz' though.

He called McGreal 'the lad' so be interesting to see what he calls the new manager 'boy' possibly.

Nah, he'd have been pleased if we reappointed Keane.

He only likes crap ITFC managers.

It’s probably because I’m one of the few on here who has been in a situation like this (all be it a lower level) where a manager m, whose players were exceptionally loyal, was sacked and an unknown came in. My point is that professional or not, players are human and that is not going to be a very harmonious dressing room right now.

In my opinion, we’ve gone the wrong way with this appointment. We’ve appointed someone with not a lot to back up his ideas. Players need to trust something and quickly and there’s not much to point to instantly. I’m sure he’s a good coach but as I’ve said, coaching to management is very different. Players in that squad have all played at higher levels, in bigger tournaments and for more established, celebrated managers so this is a majorly tough gig for him and not one everyone in that squad is going to warm to.

If you've played lower level, you'll know more than most, alot of players are thick.

Age or history of a manager won't matter if they show they know what they are talking about.

You don't have to have played the game to be a good manager as proven by many, but they showed they took the time to learn the game from another angle.

Another one of your posts says how does someone like Morsy respect him... By remembering who he's employed by and who he is being coached by. If he doesn't shape up, then he'll fall into the bomb squad, it's upto him.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

Oh bloody hell, i saw Ryorry’s opening post yesterday but nearly missed the rest of this thread.

Good to see some supporting evidence for the guaranteed winner of post of the year. Not quite as melodramatic this time but just as ludicrous.

Why do you continue with this nonsense that I was pro-Lambert? The only thing I ever said in his defence was that he shouldn’t be sacked when top of the league and appraised a few performances objectively.

As for the rest of the comments on this thread, I’ve provided insight from experience, that’s all. A lot of you on here are flailing around tripping over yourselves at a new appointment simply because it’s new. You know nothing about McKenna. He gets a fair shake as much as anyone but the point is, that dressing room is going to be all over the place at the moment and he has a tough job on his hands - I know this based on similar experience.

Enlighten us Steve. Regale us with tales from your football career. On a forum about football, this appears to be sadly lacking from all quarters. Still, assume you know best. Or, if In doubt, ask Badger, there’s a wealth of experience on tap there.

Simply because McKenna has coached big names, it doesn’t give him the pedigree and the stature in the changing room you all seem to think it does. You need to earn respect in football and McKenna is a rookie manager taking on a tough challenge with nothing to point to as testament to prove he is right. Is he a leader the squad needs, time will tell but going back to the point, dressing room harmony is vital at the moment.

Not having playing football at any noted level doesn’t disqualify me, or anyone else, from having opinions on the game. Indeed, the best part of 40 years watching matches is also a relevant starting point.

Yes, there are risks with McKenna, I think it’s a move by ITFC towards the right structure but I’m open-minded on the man himself.

Reputation is all well and good but at some point a manager ends up living on past glories which is what Cook did here because his actual record was poor.

Amazing to think Mourinho and Houllier won all those trophies when players have that attitude isn’t it

If you knew anything about football at a good level or even human nature which you clearly don’t then you’d know dressing room harmony is NOT that important and in fact dressing room friction is much better in our situation. We want Morsy having a stand up fight with Bonne.

Career ended by injury means he didn’t play so it does mean he didn’t make it due to injury. And yes, McKenna is his new boss but when a new boss comes in who hasn’t achieved what you have, he’s going to have to be pretty special to turn some school of thinking no matter how professional they are.

From listening to a few videos, I wouldn’t exactly say McKenna was that charismatic either would you?
