I keep looking but it seems to be permanently out of stock everywhere. Just wondered if there was one shop more than any others that is getting some stock?
My PS4 is on the edge of dying I think and I could be cold turkey on Apex Legends before long!
Thanks. I never thought of looking at the company that actually makes them!
Just looked though and it seems I can get to the page where it says select the edition you want, but then theres no way of selecting it. I imagine that means they are out of stock too.
Annoyingly I could have got one at launch by compete luck of checking the John Lewis website at the moment they went on sale very early in the morning after finishing work. I foolishly decided to hold out until more games were announced as I remembered owning the PS3 from launch and having barely anything to play for months.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a large amount of stock available from Amazon on Prime Day which is June 21st. Amazon have had very small amounts of stock so it seems possible they have been stockpiling in preparation for something. Pure speculation but if I'm right there could even be some pretty decent bundles going!

Yeah its Amazon ive been regularly checking and signed up to be notified from. I thought with their size they would have got them in before the others. But maybe not.

A friend of mine preorderd one through a really dodgy looking website that has since closed down. I thought better of it but he did actually receive a fully working PS5 on time so you never can tell. I'd still steer well clear of anything like Ebay or Facebook Marketplace though, that's just feeding the scalpers who have amplified the problems of the chip shortage.

Pretty much spot on with Amazon stockpiling mate. My girlfriend works there and they do similar every year with any hot technology.
I think its the world shortage of CPUs that is the problem.
You get the full fat console or the digital?
Yes, fair point.
I got the full fat one as that was the only one available at the time. It's good, but took a bit of while getting used to. The controller is ok now, but felt a bit weird at first - and if you do get manage one, I recommend turning the vibration onto the lowest setting otherwise your hands go numb! It's vicious at the default and high settings. Joining and leaving parties is more convoluted than it was on the PS, which isn't ideal. And the HD fills up in no time.
But the load times and picture quality are great, which is ultimately what it's all about.
In case anyone's not aware there are stock checker accounts on twitter which let you know whenever PS5 stock drops. e.g. @PS5StockAlertUK @StockCheckerUK @PS5UKStockAlert @IGNUKDeals - just make sure to turn notifications on!
Also beware of scammers/scalpers who sometimes leave replies on these accounts' tweets claiming to have consoles for sale - they're either fake or priced over the odds
Had one since release date and to be honest it is an expensive netflix machine at the minute.
I don't know whether I am getting old but none of the games are tickling my fancy. E3 this weekend so hopefully some announcements.
I am keen for the new Rachet and Clank game - i only played the old one recently as it is a free giveaway and really enjoyed it.
Farcry 6 also looks alright.
I got a Switch before the PS5 as my PS4 brokedown prematurely and I probably play that more at the minute...Mario Golf is one I am looking forward to playing
I know games consoles can be a tribal thing and fully understand you're probably loyal to Sony and therefore prepared to wait. If however your PS4 conks out and you get fed up waiting, then the Xbox Series S isn't a bad way to go. You don't need their expensive Seagate Storage Expansion Card add on either. There is an inexpensive way around that I've worked out. Essentially you can just use a normal hard drive and move games from there to the Internal storage, it takes about 10 minutes to move a monster-sized game, which is a lot better than having to redownload it all again (which on my internet can take hours!). I got a 3TB Western Digital hard drive (which runs via USB 3.0) for a cheap price and I'm using that to store games alongside the internal SSD storage. My favourite games I store on the internal storage (as you get the advantages of the fast load times) and when I complete one or get bored with one, I just move it to the hard drive for backup storage. I can always move it back to the internal later on should I wish to have another blast!
The Xbox Series X/S enhanced games mostly won't run from the external storage, however, they can still be stored on there and simply moved across to the internal storage as and when you want. It's worth knowing as the Seagate Storage Expansion Card is about £220 (rip off!) whereas a standard external USB 3.0 hard drive will cost you around £50 to £60 for a decent-sized one. You can run most games off the external hard drive (apart from most of the newly enhanced Series X/S games) if you don't mind a longer load time, although that sort of defeats the object of having a next-gen console. So I just tend to use the external USB 3.0 drive as backup storage for games I'm not currently playing.
I have heard some of the Xbox X/S Series enhanced games actually will run off a hard drive (such as Halo The Master Chief Collection - which is handy given it's around 135GB!) although I haven't tried it yet myself. But a lot of them won't run off an external USB 3.0 drive. But that's not a problem as just store the ones you are currently playing on the internal SSD, and keep any others you want in the background (ready for a rainy day) on the external storage ready to be transferred back across whenever you fancy.
I've had every single Playstation console up to the PS4 and I might still get the PS5 later on. In the meantime though the Xbox Series S is great value for money, especially when you get the Game Pass membership alongside it. It's a lovely small machine as well, it takes up far less space than a PS5 or Xbox Series X.

I should add I have been trying to buy my son a PS5 since Xmas. However, I got totally fed up in wasting time looking online for months on end without any joy at all. That is why I finally decided to get the Xbox Series S a couple of weeks ago. I'm really happy with it so far and don't regret the decision to buy it at all.
I got mine about 3 months ago. The best drops, when i was trying, was on Argos. However they only dropped them overnight, luckily I had a new puppy who had me up multiple times a night at the time. Not sure if the bots are still as bad as they were, but when I was looking the bots bought everything up on the likes of Amazon within seconds so little chance for genuine people.
like others have said, games are pretty rubbish at the moment. i've completed spiderman and played little big planet a couple of times and thats about it.

Thanks for that.
It does look a decent console and a good price. I just would lose all my PS4 games though of course.
I think it looks a lot nicer than the ps5. Ps5 looks like some sort of weird Star Wars helmet.
I was struggling to get an X Box series X so gave the Hot Stock app a go. Paid £5 for a month of premium and snagged one within a week. Premium users get a push notification something like 2 minutes before the free users.
Set it up to alert and leave it on in the background - you might not have any luck but worth a try. It took me a week or so and ended up with 1 from Smyths Toys and 1 from Amazon Germany!

I did receive one a month ago, but it was due to a sponsorship with a studio. Technically I don't own it, but at the same time they wont be asking for it back.

Im also available for studio sponsorship if you wish to point them my way!

Im not sure if this is quippy or not, though trusted developers/influencers are able to interface with bigger publishers. Sometimes hardware and development kits are issued, leased or lent out.
