In a midfield trio we should be able to compensate for the fact that he's not the best defensively and hopefully playing regularly he will improve that side of his game naturally. If Downes stays then a midfield trio of Downes, Dozzell and Bishop looks potentially very enticing. Rotate in the senior boys as necessary. |  |

We've never really had issues against teams that let us play - the acid test is when teams press us - then we'll see if we can still move the ball with pace and accuracy. |  |

We have tried to get him to sign one, and have taken up option for this year but have run out of road really with him.

That really is the salient point, about a run in the side. Impossible to find form when he's in 1 week and out for the next 2, that goes for any player. We absolutely need to settle on a favoured central 3, perhaps Dozzell - Downes - Bishop and run with it for 6 - 8 games and see how we click. We're fortunate to have Nolan and Huws waiting in the wings but we should only rotate if forced to. That central 3, with a 3 of Judge - Norwood - Sears ahead of them gives me a massive stiffy. Jackson will have something to say about that, but again we need a settled 'core' 8 or 9 throughout.

A trio of Dozzell, Bishop and Downes isn't just for this league. If it clicks and they stay fit that looks a midfield well capable of holding its own in the Championship. There's some serious quality in that trio, just need Dozzell and Bishop to maintain fitness and form. | |
