Surely. We should be reading something like " I wanted some extra help and Nash has been a great support so far and this his assistance in the new role will be invaluable for the progression of the first team.

Rather than.. I have no idea what Nash is even doing. Why he's doing it or even if he wants to do it.

Think it comes back to giving the manager major power and not having a structure in place. Not surprising someone with Lambert's personality is reacting like he is.
