Sad decline 19:12 - Feb 29 with 5351 views | Yeet1981 | Mick had to go, simple as that. The football was so poor. we were going nowhere, crowd walking away in droves. hurst appointment was seen as a positive step, but who sanctioned selling championship players and replacing them with league 1 nobody’s. The writing was on the wall. Lambert appointment okay. But he had enough time to at least salvage some pride last season. Relegated with no fight. This season our start was false on performance. We have been crap. And this league is so poor. Evans is going nowhere. What businessman would give a second look. The whole thing is just wrong, inept manager, puppet o Neil and a woeful owner. Where do we go from here? Who could come in and change it all?

Sad decline on 20:05 - Feb 29 by BackToRussia | It is bizarre really, that no one has ever really come out and owned the situation. TBF to Evans, when he took over he was a rich owner in the Championship, but every sector changes, and to just keep putting in the same amount of money (or less) and expecting to compete is head in the sand stuff. I assume he is putting in a lot less now, running costs will be way way down, and going further down next year one assumes. It is odd but I think he probably feels pretty comfortable with our current situation. It's like we're on autopilot now until we crash into the mountain. |
I don't think he is expecting to compete. I think he's given up.

Sad decline on 19:13 - Feb 29 by BackToRussia | Evans needs to accept he has utterly failed and sell up. Write off the debt and fvck off. |
I’m sure Evans agrees. He needs a buyer.

Yes that's how it feels. But why this stubbornness in not selling? It is as if he's simultaneously given up but somehow expects us to get back to the PL and finally make him that giant pile of cash he was lusting over when trying to buy a football club. It is really difficult to divine his motives or thoughts. I can only hope that behind the scenes he is trying his utmost to sell the club.

Is he willing to write off the debt? Is he actively trying? Many moons ago he did an interview where he said he had rejected offers. Football clubs are still being sold. Usually they are publicly for sale too. That would be a good first step.

Sad decline on 19:27 - Feb 29 by Dubtractor | He's never getting it back as long as he owns us is he? Not sure how he expects to get it back from selling either really. |
He’s made truly catastrophic business decisions during his tenure. How on earth he expects to claw back any of the money he’s squandered Is a mystery to me.
Sad decline on 21:27 - Feb 29 with 542 views | unstableblue | Marcus needs to hire a talented football CEO or Technical/Football Director.. Milne and Clegg?! I mean just really?! Lee ONeil is like a minister without portfolio. That new person needs to then do an exhaustive search for a progressive and technical manager and put a proper structure in to support. Keane and Jewell were just bad, on many levels, Keane was just a sh!t bully. Hurst would have never passed a decent recruitment test. It is laughable that people think that Mick was some kind of solution for this club, other than a short term. We were not progressing our footballing style into something sustainable and critically entertaining.

Yeah, that’s the other option - he completely removes himself from the decision making process and puts a decent management team in. He won’t do that though.

It is basic sunk cost fallacy. He has spent all this money so far he might as well keep going with it. He can afford the current investment level. If he sold the club at its current market value and the club ended up in the PL he would be gutted. So just keep putting in the minimum in and hope we fluke it. Now we have to fluke it up two divisions and the rate we are going eventually three! I know he has lost a lot of money but the figures after tax adjustments etc in other areas of business will mean it will not be the 100m+ which have been suggested. In his mind even if he reached that level of debt one season in the Prem would cover it. Hence why he loved Mick so much he looked like the man capable of pulling off the cheap fluke. I think his actual losses which in reality only he knows would have to be nearer 150m before he seriously considers getting rid. And even then he will still have to overcome the sunk cost fallacy. Unfortunately we have Evans for the foreseeable future. However with the current squad and budget relative to the rest of League Lambert has no excuse. The sooner he is gone the better but Evans is just as likely to appoint someone even worse!
