Was there at their last ever concert in 2012, can’t believe it’s 10 years
Have seen Beach Boys, minus Brian Wilson several times since 2012, most recent on music cruise, out of Fort Lauderdale, in March 2019. Also seen at Newmarket races, and in Kentucky since 2012.
Still rumours they will do a limited 60th Anniversary tour including Brian Wilson.

I think Brian's done with live performance now, he had the rest of his tour cancelled this year and dates pencilled in for next year have been pulled. From what I read and seen he's just not up to it anymore.
I saw him perform Smile at Ipswich Regent of all places and it remains the best musical performance I've ever seen in my life.

I saw him at Cropredy three or four years ago and his voice didn't even make it through the first verse of the opening song ('Wouldn't It Be Nice'), it was still a great to see the, bona fide, legend but I almost wish he had stuck to keyboards and left the singing to someone else. Fantastic band he had with him then though, it included Al Jardine and Blondia Chaplin,.
The one time I saw The Beach Boys was at the Bardney Festival near Lincoln in 1972 and they were shambolic, they were having fun but the audience was mainly standing watching them and no doubt remembering better performances earlier in the day from The Faces and Slade.
I’ve never got my head around The Beach Boys. They released songs that would get the mother-in-law’s approval, yet they were all piss heads or smack heads in and out of rehab. Given their lifestyles, you’d have expected their music to be a lot harder, darker, more gritty. Rock’n’roll lifestyles with the output of Cliff Richard. Odd and not my thing tbh.

I doubt Cliff would have recorded and album like Pet Sounds or the abandoned Smile sessions.
And their early 70’s output like Feels Flows, Til I Die or Long Promised Road we’re as good as anything released by the so called ‘credible’ rock bands.

Give that era a listen.
My view’s certainly based in ignorance, so I’ll check those recommendations out cheers.
