VINCENT-YOUNG BID ACCEPTED

Ipswich have had a bid for Colchester defender Kane Vincent-Young accepted, according to Sky sources.

The highly-rated 23-year-old full-back has been linked with a move to Luton, but Ipswich appear in pole position to sign him after agreeing a deal with League Two Colchester.

Sky Sports News understand Sunderland continue to monitor Vincent-Young’s situation, though, and may enter the race for his signature.

This is Ipswich all over though isn't it.

We could have signed him for no fee but didn't - now we are paying a fee.

Reminds me of when we paid a fee for Darren Currie back in the day and could have signed him 6 months earlier for no fee.

Oh well - that aside, a decent signing....if it goes ahead.

There would have been compensation last year, so wouldn't have been free. Might well effectively be costing us less as his wage in League One won't be the same as it would have been in the Championship!

But a different time, different manager and, probably most significantly, a different, lower division.

I'd hope so, it makes sense for all parties involved. MIght be that he doesn't want a move to League Two after performing in well in League One for Rotherham and Shrewsbury though. Swap deals are notoriously hard to finalise also. When was the last one we completed, JET and Paul Anderson?

An interesting one in that respect, he didn't appear to be that highly rated when here last year and was available for effectively nothing and no one else interested - presumably he had a good eason last year as had garnered Championship interest

No-one wanted Kiefer Moore when we went after him either, even his own clubs fans.

People develop, lets hope he is the same

I've seen him play 3 times I think and he's alright. I dont think he stands out particularly because he is just a steady decent defender.

That would be quite a good characteristic for our defence. Too often our defenders do stand out or all the wrong reasons.

In the 38 games in which ALB played in goal for us, we averaged 1.53 points per game which, had they been over the course of a single season, would have seen us challenging for the play offs. This at a time when we were otherwise struggling against relegation. Oh, and didn't Mick Mills have terrific posture.

Without sounding like an idiot I thought the transfer window was closed?

Will it be a loan with a view to buy in Jan?

As long as no other clubs get involved we may get this deal done. However, I've seen this lad play many times, and he has never been a stand out player for Col U. If you speak to their fans he is well down the order in terms of highly rated youngsters at the club.

Suspect Klug also knows of him from his time at THFC.

Poll: Would love to see one of our midfield contribute 10+ goals. Who is most likely.

Oh man Darren Currie. Remember when we had good players like Darren Currie playing for us? TWTD.

Still can't forgive Currie for missing that open goal which would have taken us up, back in the day

I know Darren quite well and FWIW he still has nightmares about that very game!

I have it in commission, to comfort the feeble-minded, and to support the weak. You must needs go along with us; we will wait for you, we will lend you our help, we will deny ourselves of some things, both opinionated and practical, for your sake; we will not enter into doubtful disputations before you, we will be made all things to you, rather than you shall be left behind
