Who from our latest crop of youngsters most likely to break through? 18:45 - Jun 12 with 4943 viewsAlexGreen

We had so many of the youngsters take part this season, anyone have thoughts on who will make a serious claim when we eventually get back started.

At the back I wonder if Dylan Crowe or Corrie Ndaba will finally find their way through, or if Barry Cotter will push on. I'm doubtful to be honest, they would all probably have benefited from a League Two loan last year.

Dobra must be the most likely further up the pitch, hopefully El Mizouni too (it's a shame his Cambridge loan was cut short with injury, he was doing well there by all accounts), and it would be great to see Simpson burst onto the scene, Wickham style.

I can't work out whether we are blessed with a new generation of talented youngsters or not!

Well done on your YouTube nomination.

I think Dobra is most likely to break through. Something about him just seems like he is destined for greater things.

I remember Klug saying once to my old man that you don’t really know if an Academy player is going to “make it” until he’s started at least 100 games.

Plenty have come into the team hot only to fizzle away unceremoniously.
Lankester could be in the Ambrose tier, or he could be in the Carson tier - he still has it all to prove.

I’ve been thinking about this and I can’t remember if Klug said 50 or 100 games, I was only 14/15 at the time, maybe someone else has had a conversation with BK where he’s shared similar knowledge and can clarify?

Massive but. His injury record is a huge concern.

11 games is also nothing. Just look at the likes of Bowditch and Billy Clarke both of whom started like a whirlwind and then vanished.

Bowditch looked shocking playing for Stowmarket last year. Sad to see really.

I think Jack will make it but still has a lot to prove to hold down a regular starting position but if even 2 of the youngsters make it this season then that would be fantastic, anymore than that could define us for the next few seasons.

There is some real talent there but they need to raise it to the next level and if they cannot in league 1 then will probably be playing for Leiston in a yr or two.

Any of
Lankester
Dobra
McGavin
Folami
Morris
El Mouzini
Ndaba
Cotter

plus others I am not aware of or have forgot

edit Simpson

How was Carson purely overrated?

He was a star for the youth team, massively sought after and a huge coup to get him, made a flying start to career, international debut etc. All this happened whilst he was still a teenager.

That's not being over rated, that is making a massive impact as a kid.

I'd agree, he looked very promising to start with but went massively off the boil

I thought he might be one who would drop down and come back up but clearly something wasn't right there

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Any one that ever saw him out and about on a weekend probably realised he wasn’t living the most professional of lifestyles and that he had various distractions and didn’t always mix with the best crowd. It also probably didn’t help that for a lot of his time here he was involved with another ex youth players sister who would act like a bit of a rum’un out and about too.

Being around senior 'pros' like Bullard and Chopra like Bullard and Chopra didn't help. The character/professionalism of that side Jewell assembled was virtually non-existent.
