You mean to say that all those "professionals" betting on the Hawaiian table tennis and Belarusian football might not have the insight that they think they do?

One reason for not buying a Town shirt Bet Vegas. Also can some one explain why advertising for online casino's are rightly not allowed before the 9 o'clock watershed. However online bingo can.

I think the fact the omit the betting sponsors from the children's shirts is amusing, what difference does it make that it's not on their replica shirt when their heroes are running around with it branded across their chest?

Absolutely agree.
That and Ray fekkin Winstone imploring everyone to 'Have a bosh on that, soppy bollo*ks' during half time in every live football match on Virgin & Sky.

Isn't the main problem that online betting around the world is entirely a part of football's global audience and business model? If online betting was discouraged within football wouldn't that greatly affect the amount of money TV companies are willing to pay for games?

Then on top of that there's the heavy betting sponsorship and advertising of course.

It's going to be a hell of an ask to get football to unpick all that and lose money at the same time. A government with balls and standards would of course realise that and take matters into their own hands to wean football of that dependency.

Shouldn't be that difficult, when the fun stops, stop.

Well, exactly. When it's put like that it's all so simple.

I'm going to call up my mate who has struggled with addiction and tell her that's all behind her now.

Reminds me of one of the Psychiatrists I saw in my late teens who said and I quote "don't be sad" - being a chemically unbalanced/emotionally unstable teenager with bi polar and borderline personality disorder I gave him a proper sarcastic dressing down.
"Oh, I suddenly feel so much better now, thank you Doctor, why on earth didn't I think of that?! Don't. Be. Sad. Genius"

I also think a lot of people don't understand what a "problem gambler" actually is, so here's a little bit from NHS inform that might help.
It's by no means a complete guide but it's a good starting point.

"Signs of problem gambling
If you think you might have a gambling problem, help is available.

To start, answer these 10 questions with ‘yes’ or ‘no’:

- Do you spend a lot of time thinking about gambling?
- Are you spending more money on gambling as time goes on?
- Have you ever tried to stop gambling, or cut down on or control your gambling, and not been able to?
- Do you get restless or irritable if you try to cut down on gambling?
- Do you gamble to escape from difficulties in your life, or to cheer yourself up?
- Do you keep playing after losing money to try to win it back — often called ‘chasing losses’?
- Have you lied to other people about how much time or money you’ve spent gambling, or how much you’ve lost?
- Have you ever stolen money to fund gambling?
- Has gambling affected your job, relationships, or home life?
- Do you ask other people to lend you money when you’ve lost money through gambling?

If you’ve answered yes:
To 1 question — you might have a problem, and it would be a good idea to seek help.
To 3 questions — gambling probably feels like it’s a problem, and you should seek help.
To 5 or more questions — it’s likely gambling feels like it’s affecting every part of your life. You should get help as soon as possible."

The problem is that often the fun stops after the bet has been placed or somebody has lost more money than they can afford to lose. It's frankly a ridiculous phrase plastered everywhere so they can claim they are 'doing their bit'.

Interesting that the powers that be appear to have publicly identified one of the entry points for children gambling, I wonder if they will actually do anything about it or if it’s all a distraction from dealing with the issue at hand.
