17!!

I would say 9/9 at home should be the aim, for sure.

The away games are harder to call, I'm a little scarred from the Bolton performance in truth, I thought we were poor and not great again last night, especially first half although there were mitigating circumstances. Not sure we'll take 8 points from these 4, but would love to see it.

I always thought we were going to lose to Bolton. Not surprised they have done double over us, they just seem to be a side we never seem to get the better on except that lovely May evening in 2000!

I don't think we were that bad last night. The first half was a bit frustrating but we were clearly the better team and had so much ball, just lacked creativity - and maybe that wasn't so surprising with the line up.

Considering 4 changes, losing Morsy in the heart of midfield i think last night was pretty decent. We were resilient, stuck at it and when we showed quality and moved the ball quickly scored two good goals.

Look our results against wimbledon since we have been in L1 and you'll see how good a result it was!

I just thought against that opposition we didn't offer a lot going forward, and when we were ahead I thought we were sloppy. A few cheap freekicks, KVY getting mugged in the left back spot, Edmundson walking a tightrope, KVY red, the 1 on 1 that Walton did well to stop with his legs, another they skied over the bar and the one that hit Walton's heel and could easily have gone anywhere but the safety it did find. There's no such thing as a perfect performance, and we got a deserved win for sure, I just thought we weren't really at the races. Agree with you though, and said as much last night that with so many changes I think you would struggle to find any side that would still look on song. I would imagine Jackson will drop out on Saturday for Bonne, perhaps Chaplin for Norwood too. It's the middle that makes me a little nervous in the absence of the 2 mainstays, especially Morsy. I'm hoping Evans makes it back to give some familiarity.

You are right in that we were sloppy - and fortunately it didn't cost us.

I didn't think Edmundson was as solid as usual and KVY had a real off night especially those last 20 minutes where he just kept dwelling on the ball - but we all have them sometimes.

But i do think we controlled the ball well with a very unusual team which is encouraging, I liked Bakinson, him and Caroll are going to be needed in next few games so that was a real plus. Although i think Evans has disappointed this season we do really need him back with Morsy out for some familiarity.

It's much easier to cut out mistakes than have to find out why a team or formation is not working. So for me its a big plus that the oppo were only getting chances through our sloppiness rather than causing us problems through general play.

I liked Bakinson too, he's physical and his positional discipline was very good last night, especially coming in out of the cold in terms of starting. He can play a bit too, made a few nice passes including one over Norwoods shoulder in behind, looks a good player.

Will be interesting to see the lineup on Saturday as obviously the LWB change is enforced, but beyond that I wonder if he'll stick with the Carroll - Bakinson - Aluko trio that he went with yesterday. I think he might go with Celina and Chaplin behind Bonne, which is a nice option to have, especially fresh from a short run out last night. Aluko and Norwood dropping to the bench perhaps. Could in theory see Burns, Edwards, Chaplin, Celina, Bonne all starting. Pretty tasty if Bakinson and Carroll can do their jobs in the middle.

Innit. Bunch of losers this lot

While we're on a roll, I'm going for an optimistic 16 points.

Yes, surprised with how comfortable Bakinson has looked but looks like he has something about him. You'd like to think he'll only get stronger as he gets more fitness and familiar with his teammates.

Saturday's line up is going to be hard to call but i think he'll definitely start with Bonne. I'd be tempted to play the same front 3 that we did v Accrington with Celina and Chaplin behind Bonne but i think he may only go with one of them---i do want to see Chaplin start a lot more as i think he's a cracking little player.

Do you think McKenna may go with Edwards to replace KVY then? I'm actually quite excited by that because he could give them a lot to worry about and apparently its a role he has done at WBA so should have the positional discipline for it.

I think we need approximately 11 wins from our last 18 games. Winning 5 of these leaves you needing a fairly achievable 6 from the (much harder) last 11. Much more than that and you're hoping for a miracle.

(If we did get 17 points, we'd expect to be about 1 point off the play-off line)

We don't need that many points (OP suggested 17) to reach the PO's.
2ppg / 12 wins should do it so 14 points would actually be the target.
Current form suggests we could pick up 18.
If we picked up 15, losing to Sheff Wed and MK Dons, I think we'd be around about equal 6th place in the league... come the end of Feb.
That's 2 months earlier than strictly necessary!!!

Honestly if we went unbeaten through that lot and picked up 4 wins and 3 draws or 3 wins and 4 draws I think we'd still be well on target.

21 points. McKenna ball in full flow.

At least... McKenna could probably get even more than that.

I think it's either Edwards or Burgess, but I don't think the latter really suits what we're trying to do. It would be brave, for sure, but assuming Penney is out I don't think there's much alternative. KM doesn't seem to lack balls though, it may be Sheff Wed away but they're not in great form and they're there for the taking. Do it, I say. Give Edwards a chance there to get at them and see what we can create. He's shown a willingness to defend even when he's played higher up the pitch this season, so I wouldn't be worried about him especially.

I didn't say we needed 17 to reach the PO's, I said that is what we should expect from the haul over those 7 games.

If we're being completely honest Morsy was a big miss last night. Our midfield didn't have the usual energy or bite. Saturday will be a big test.

On the plus side 3 of the 4 games could be a whole lot worse.
