Got it all wrong… sang “send HER victorious” instead of ‘him’ and also sang “God save OUR king” rather than “God save THE king”. Not like it’s a difficult song to learn!!

Didn’t see it but ‘God save the Queen’ has been part of the subconscious for decades. It’ll take time to get used to King etc.

Or, to be save, don’t sing it at all.

In all fairness, bar Facters, the overwhelming majority of the country will have been bearing that song as 'God Save The Queen', 'send her....' etc for pretty much all of the their lives. Pretty easy and understandable mistake to make, I'd say.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I agree about that one, that’s an understandable error. The second mistake, though, singing god save ‘our’ king rather than ‘the’ king in the third line is less forgivable IMO. It’s even in the title of the song!!

I do realise I am being a humungous pedant btw - please forgive me

I’ve spent most of my life driving on the left, but I manage to not feck it up when I go on the continent. A professional singer should have no excuse. Unless they’re crap.

Beseeching an entity that almost certainly doesn't exist to preserve an entity which in my opinion shouldn't exist has always seemed a little odd to me.

I do find it odd when people I know who aren’t religious regurgitate ‘God save the king’. What does that even mean if you don’t believe in god. Just pointless. Actually I’ve seen it mostly on Facebook so if you don’t show you care, you don’t care.

But equally, plenty of once a year church goers turn up at Christmas & sing a few hymns praising god, although I guess most of them aren't really religious. I think most people are conformists & prefer to go along with what the majority are doing.

That’s a very good point.

"Send her victorious..." was obviously a mistake.

I assume that "...our king" was intentional; a monarchist affirmation that the royalists accept and welcome Charles to the role.
