It was an important statement but was evidently a blip in global politics and indeed in Thatcher’s own politics as she barely mentioned the environment again. The Tories and the UK as a whole didn’t even push environmental policies at home, let alone look to lead the way globally.
And it’s the perennial words instead of actions, which we seem to be addicted to when it comes to “fighting” climate change. |  |
