Well, quite it won't be happening next year whatever happens next Thursday.
With a Tory majority, Parliament seems sure to ratify the Article 50 withdrawal agreement Johnson renegotiated in October in time for Brexit on January 31st./2
Anyone who seriously expects a trade deal to be concluded quickly with a small Tory majority (say, 40 or less?) is mad, to be honest. Even if such a thing is possible (perhaps it is, I guess it all depends on the EU's desire to move on themselves), surely the ERG will look to block it if they think they have the numbers and no-deal is the alternative (again).
Edit - sorry for the grammatical mess. Not been sleeping much lately!
Note the way Conservatives are now portraying that Brexit is a distasteful thing which must be got over and done with, an encumbrance in the way, rather than a positive move for the country.

Brexit never has been a Tory policy as such, far from it.
What they are trying to do is honour the Referendum result.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Why are we bound to honour the referendum result when we didn't honour the referendum in the first place? From pitching it to win Conservative and UKIP votes in 2015 to campaigning for it dishonestly in 2016?

If you accept that it was only ever advisory, then you have to accept that thpse being advised have the power to use that advice as they see fit.
However that advice was to another Parliament, aanother government and another PM. In fact there has been two other PM's since that vote, three different governments and we are about to have our third parliament.
So what would the point of this election be if MP's were bound by an advisory vote to a parliament that was to the one previous to the previous one ? How can a government govern if the same constraints were put on it, likewise a PM ?
If you were lied to then the fault lies between those lying and your willingness to accept those lies. Repeating those lies will not stop them from being lies, nor will it change the UK's lawful democratic process.
