Was just thinking the other day when John Challis died (RIP) how David Jason is probably one of the biggest nationals treasure in Britain and it got me thinking who else would be on this list of say 10 people.
I’ve got these so far on my imaginary list: - Sir David Jason - Sir David Attenborough - Sir Elton John - Dame Helen Mirren - Dame Judi Dench - Dame Maggie Smith
And then on the ‘potentials’ list that didn’t quite make the cut but probably worth consideration: - Ant and Dec - Sir Tom Jones - Colin Firth - Sir Paul McCartney - Stephen Fry - Mary Berry - David Lloyd (AKA Bumble)
Who else do we reckon is a genuine national treasure?
Stonehenge, Sutton Hoo. Hadrian's wall,Bayeux tapestry, Bartlow hills. The others are just idiot celebrities I have never met( apart from Steven Fry) and have no interest in meeting

You missed off the Norwich City Trophy Cabinet from that list
Joanna Lumley. Jennifer Saunders. Dawn French. Angela Rippon. Gloria Hunniford.
Olivia Coleman always seems popular. Too young? Is there an age limit on such things? Can we predict future national treasures here? I'll throw in Emma Raducanu.
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

An admission to a friend of having made up the case and tbe contact to a solicitor offering to drop the case for 150k rather muddies the waters
Blimey. It's bad enough that most DV victims don't come forward or don't get their day in court, let alone throwing shade on them when the perpetrator has been convicted in a court of law.

Yes because there have never been wrongful convictions.
As someone who saw their fair share of DV as child I can assure you that I deplore it but I this instance I think there is clear evidence that the conviction is at least questionable, let's be clear, a friend of the acuser says that she admitted to having slipped, there was a v clear offer to settle the case for 150k and after which the complaints was declared bankrupt

The conviction was upheld in a court of appeal. If you've seen the pictures I'd ask you whether you think it's really credible she got those injuries from falling on a carpeted hotel room floor. You may think it's questionable, a judge and an appeal court that were privvy to all of the evidence disagree. I'll go with them in this instance. Not having Boycott being a national treasure, he's an arse.

Fair enough
Though it was a marble floor not a carpeted one and essentially one persons word (a person who told a friend they had made it up and who offered to drop the case for a 150k) againsta another (a person who had never been accused of that behavior before or sense)
I personally think that struggles to meet any burden of proof but that said I'm less familiar with what that burden is in France .
I will accept that the mere question of it rules him out of national treassure status but I will equally stand by tbe conviction being questionable. Plenty of innocent people have lost on appeal over the years.

She allegedly told a 'friend' she made it up. That you choose to believe that rather than what we know she told a court of law is interesting. And the floor in the hotel room where Boycott said she fell was carpeted. And a doctor said the injuries she had could not have been sustained in the way Boycott alleged.
