Argyle fan in peace 12:11 - Apr 20 with 18440 views | PAFCSurrey | morning all, So I keep my eye on your forum (and Owlstalk - which can be pretty funny when they lose) and just wondered what your current consensus (as much as you can get on a forum with a million differing views!) on how it'll end up for us, you and Wednesday come the last day. You're clearly playing the much, much better football than the pair of us, but have 2 very tough looking games now. Cambridge at home looks, on paper, an "easy" one but i'm expecting it to be anything but. Gut feel?
Argyle fan in peace on 12:47 - Apr 20 with 2066 views | NthQldITFC | Every time I work through it, I come up with: Ipswich 96 Argyle 96 Wednesday 92 Barnsley 88 That might be because put the same data in every time, but.

Argyle fan in peace on 12:47 - Apr 20 with 2066 views | Ftnfwest | Nervous as hell but all this is light years better than what we've had for 20+ years and if the worst happens (lose in play offs) whilst it will be a major blow, we will still know that in the medium/long term we're on the right path. Because of goal difference we effectively need 96 points which is the most wendies can get now, but I would be surprised if they win all 3 remaining games. Assuming they draw one we would need another 6 points from here but would want to reduce our Barnsley game to a 'free hit' by beating posh. Regards Plymouth i think you should be fine now but i would also be surprised if there isn't at least one banana skin in your next 3 home games. All winnable but all putting the onus on you guys to go out and put on a performance. Cambridge seem to have picked up and Burton can be tricky although nowhere near as tricky as at their place. Think you've got it though, we can both afford one slip up now and if Wendies draw/lose one that become two each.

If we get 2 points against Peterborough/Barnsley we are guaranteed to be in the top 2 come 10pm next Tuesday. Ideally we want more but they are the facts of the matter. You'd then back us to get maximum points out of Exeter/Fleetwood if needed. Plymouth, I just don't see any way they don't win 2 of those 3 home games which if they get a point in one of the other two games is going to certainly be enough (96 points). interesting (and fair enough) we all see things through different lenses in football. Always been the way and always will be. For me, i dont personally see the "luckiest team ever" description. We all get our slices of luck (and not) but then I would say that :-) you cant always just be fluky / lucky. Appreciate all your opinions! But yes, someone is going to finish the season absolutely crushed. I just hope its not us. Time will tell, thanks for your responses.

Yes that is all very fair and i'd agree with that, re Wedneday slipping. I cant see them winning all three and that helps me sleep at night (to a degree!)

You've had an incredible season and I think you will get the title when it's all said and done. I expect us to take second but anything can happen in football.

Argyle fan in peace on 12:59 - Apr 20 with 1966 views | hype313 | 1) Plymouth 2) Ipswich Although I think it's going to be tough for everyone at this juncture, the players are all hanging on, most probably carrying a few knocks and are just limping over the finish line. You have Bristol Rovers and Burton who should be in Thomas Cook, but it's looking like even teams with nothing to play or are still offering up a challenge. I think there are going to be a number of twist and turns yet still to play out.

The key thing is when you get a season when you get your slices of luck to make the most of it as it becomes self fulfilling - and Plymouth have certainly done that and will finish above 90 points

I’ve a nagging feeling Weds will win all three; despite their fans being in meltdown I think the fact they’re no longer top takes the pressure off them. Then again, derby last day should need something so who knows.

Wendies Derby could be huge, along with us and Barnsley and Barnsley against Peterborough. Permutations across the board!

Football is cruel! Someone is going to feel really hard done by, I just pray it isn't us. |
Innit. Knowing ITFC it will probably end up... 1) Sheffield Wednesday 2) Barnsley 3) Plymouth Argyle 4) Ipswich Town : 0 P.S. I don't really think this, but it's hard to accept the new ITFC after so long let down by MEG and the Curse COYFB :)

Argyle fan in peace on 13:04 - Apr 20 with 1898 views | JackNorthStand | For me, since February when our new signings got bedded in, Ipswich have been the best league 1 team I have seen by a country mile. If we had Broadhead, Clarke, Luongo and Hirst for the start of the season, I feel we would have really ran away with this league. On the other hand, until January I was saying to people that Plymouth are the best footballing side in the league, I felt Plymouth were the only side who have outplayed Ipswich this season. Certainly got the better of us at your place. Based on this, I feel it will be Ipswich / Plymouth top 2. Your manager and players have done a fantastic job, it has been like when Leicester won the premier league, week after week people saying " they will drop away, they can't maintain this ". But you have with 3 games to go and 3 relatively ( on paper ) easy fixtures. Given that I think it will go the the very last day to who will be league champions, but we will both be promoted before then. Sheffield Wednesday have fallen away and I would wager a bet that if either us or you played them at this moment in time, it would be a one sided match. Ipswich and Plymouth promoted - in any order. All the best. [Post edited 20 Apr 2023 13:06]

I can. Bris Rovers was a good win on Tuesday. Two home games (Exeter and Derby) and an away game at Shrewsbury who have hit the wall. I think Shrews only fielded three outfield subs on Tuesday and they were youngsters. EDIT: they also have players coming back from injury. Smith started on Tuesday and Ihiekwe and Windass could be back at the weekend. I think both you and us need 8 points to secure promotion from remaining four fixtures. [Post edited 20 Apr 2023 13:15]

Argyle fan in peace on 13:15 - Apr 20 with 1835 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Ask me on Saturday at 5pm. If we win, we will go up along with yourselves. (Same for if Weds drop points) If we lose and weds win. They will go up with yourselves. But right now 1. Plymouth 2. Weds 3. Us As for Plymouth. When Whittaker went back, I thought, they will slip. When Cooper got injured, who was probably the best keeper outside the prem for the the first half of the season and was saving so many points, I thought, they will slip. Well its 20th April and you are top of the league. I don't watch you every week but as an outsider looking in, you have a team with serious cojones. Fair play. [Post edited 20 Apr 2023 13:29]

It would be good, for the nerves, of all Plymouth & Ipswich fans not to be reliant on winning the last game of the season. Can you imagine how fans of both clubs would feel if Tuesday evening had been last game of the season?

Argyle fan in peace on 13:16 - Apr 20 with 1826 views | jayessess | Gut feel - I think we'll need to win all 4 of our remaining games to be champions. In truth, I think the league table reflects the team Plymouth were up to January much more than it does the team you are now (after the injuries, loan recalls etc.) but the team you are now is still definitely good enough to win 3 of your next 4. I think Schumacher will have an absolutely monstrous task to get you competitive for the Championship next season, but that's a nice problem to have with a League One trophy in your cabinet really!

I'd be happy enough with that. I think Plymouth will do it too - they are the best team we've faced this season imo.
