When do we hear the dreaded words... on 08:46 - Sep 1 by Herbivore | Phil suggested we've gone cold on Cathcart. I wouldn't rule out us going back in for him if we got a good loan offer for Baggot. |
From what I gather, Cathcart hasn't been on the radar for a while. But possible we could show renewed interest as the deadline moves closer.

When do we hear the dreaded words... on 08:56 - Sep 1 by Herbivore | Which experienced Championship strikers do you think would be happy to join a newly promoted side to sit on their bench? |
Probably more in rotation I should have said rather than backup. I don't have the time to create a twitter thread with all the possible players and their attributes like some do but someone like a Scott Hogan or Danny Ward type would have been preferable to DS personally. Yes they may cost a million or something but if we were really considering 8mil on Armstrong then I dont see why it would be unreasonable to think we could spend that on an experienced striker. Obviously we do need another CB so hopefully we'll get that over the line today.

When do we hear the dreaded words... on 09:02 - Sep 1 by Dyland | We’ve signed cover for central midfield in the form of an exciting box to box young player. We’ve signed two very highly rated prem attacking forwards, plus a proven prem level versatile defender, these three on loan as we can’t afford this kind of quality currently re ffp. We’ve signed two of the reasons we broke records after January on perms. Not sure what on earth some fans are expecting. |
25 is not young in football terms and ultimately I'm not sure he is necessarily an improvement on Luongo who has been unbelievably good since he's come in. Williams will be a solid player but if we're expecting him to offer what Leif does on the other side then that's not going to happen. I think we've effectively signed an improvement on Donacien there but Clarke will still give us more going forward if he can get up to full fitness. Hutchinson currently looks like a younger like for like replacement for Edwards but hopefully he will develop through this season and give us an end product. Scarlett, let's see, I'd have preferred someone a bit more proven than a striker who didnt exactly set the world alight in the division below last season. A division which we all know had some absolutely dreadful teams in it. This all is sounding negative. I'm not negative about the state of the club it's only to put a counter point to your post. Im still relatively happy with what we have and I'm very happy with how we have performed so far. I just wonder if 2 additions of real quality would give us a really good chance of making the top 6.

By not quiet, I mean one signing (perhaps another but less likely) and a few loans out rather than loads of new signings.

Well that's gives us all an interest for the day! Hope it's a permanent signing. I'm sure Scarlett and Hutchinson have huge potential but over the years we have seen those youngsters not really perform or only in tiny patches (Naitland-Miles and Townsend spring to mind). I wonder if Freddie may still leave if we can secure another striker. That's felt on the cards all Summer. He looks well down Kierans pecking order. Probably not suited to the lone striker role.
