World Cup and Supermarkets 19:14 - Nov 18 with 1066 viewsgtsb1966

Don't know if it's the same in the big towns but here in Sudbury I've seen nothing to promote this world cup. No big beer promotions front of store and no food promotions with bunting as usually seen.Went in to the local co-op today and even the boxes of budweiser had no mention of it.The apathy is unreal. I still say that if this world cup had been in an intolerant country in our summer the big supermarkets wouldn't care at all. Promoting World Cup beer and barbecues would've been too hard to turn down for all of them. World cup in our summer in Qatar and they wouldn't give a toss.

So are you saying that the lack of promotion is down to Qatar being an intolerant country, but as it is not the summer no supermarket is bothering ?

Maybe supermarkets are spending all their advertising budget on Xmas, it does happen you know.

There are also none of those little car flags about either.

I still maintain that budweiser isn't beer anyway. I wouldn't wash my arse with it.

I have seen some car flags on sale and a bit of promotion in the alcohol section. The supermarkets are busy promoting something else at this time of year.

It's good for the removal of dingleberries too.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.
