The amount of money I've saved by not driving is quite staggering over the last 18:27 - May 3 with 4780 viewshomer_123

6 or so weeks.

Really quite surprised to be honest!

This has, however, been completely offset by the amount of money spent on washing powder...also....utterly unbelievable!

My shopping bills are up, as the value products seem to be the first ones to run out. And petrol is around £1.03, when we dont need any ffs!

How did you wash your clothes before, open your doors in the car wash?

I rarely drive, but in regards to saving money, I've been astonished at how much I've saved since being in lockdown. £57pm gym membership, £320pm personal trainer, and my credit card bill has dropped from around £1kpm to £500pm (largely due to not eating/drinking out and trains to football).

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

That's since I moved up to twice a week, and was earning freelance money at the time.

I certainly don't have the spare cash to build a pizza oven on my balcony!

Twice a week.

Hope you get a reacharound.

If anyone else is happy to pay £40 a session for someone to shout at them I'll be happy to offer the same service via Skype for £35.

Yeah, that's a bit strange one. We're washing a lot less, largely because it doesn't matter if you stink.

Our food bill has gone up (family of 4), but that's more than offset by the savings on overpriced takeaway coffee and lunches. No other spending other than food, so we're saving an absolute fortune each month. At least a grand a month if not more.

I think the Diesel costs have been outweighed by the wine bill :-)

I am heading into work about once a week to collect and deliver paperwork- but thats quite a pleasure. Certainly a significant saving made.

Same here. Made us have a bit of a reality check for when this is all over. Saving a grand a month easy on not going out. I really am going to change my ways.

To be fair to Dollars, if that is twice a week it seems reasonable.

I pay over 200 for 6 weeks (once a week) and that is in sunny Suffolk.

As others have said fuel is the main saving, only using the car once a week at most for food shopping. Food bill has gone up slightly as I am buying a little bit more than I usually would.

Energy bills will no doubt go up this quarter!

The whole concept of personal trainers in real life- ratehr than for LA stars, is a bit weird imo. Spending that sort of money on it? Blimey. had no idea...

Good to know the great and the good of the legal profession can do maths!

I think you'll find £40 a session for a PT is pretty standard.

You can get people with serious qualifications and skills more cheaply.

I think it's recognition that without the personal trainer, people wouldnt do the exercise. It forces you to do it if you've paid for it.

Although the same logic fails with gym memberships. Hmm

Lunches no longer being from the various eateries in central London must be a huge saving for many (including myself).

I think its that people value aesthetics over skills and knowledge.

People value "hey- I have a personal trainer" more than a physio.

People value " look at my abs" more than- well normal stuff.
