Anyone heard any more about potential side effects of the Pfizer jab?
In the early days I heard that there could be mild side effects much like a hangover. Since then I have heard little more about it. Until my niece had the jab.

She is in her early twenties and is working in a hospital performing tasks like proning covid patients. Because of this she had the pfizer jab last week and has been off work since then with fatigue, light headedness and an increased heart rate. She spoke to her GP after severa days of feeling like it and the GP put it down to the affect of the vaccination, and commented that she was their third patient like it that day. Which seems quite a lot for a rural GP surgery in North Wales.

I wonder if this was a bad batch or whether such side effects are more common than I was expecting

Was chatting with my next door neighbour yesterday who is a Nurse at Ipswich Hospital and she is currently off work having been diagnosed with Covid, however she was vaccinated last week with AZ, I do wonder if PCR tests pick up small fragments of the virus to then proclaim she has covid, even though it's the small viral load from the vaccine? The day before her vaccine she tested negative, just a thought, not sure if there would be any credence in this.

I think I am in a similar situation to your neighbour. I had the Oxford jab last Friday, had to have a test on Sunday due to having a medical procedure yesterday that was cancelled, due to the test coming up positive. Feel well no symptoms.

My mother had a bit of a sore arm the following day. Also her arthritis has been playing up since, but she thinks that is more likely down to the weather.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Anecdotal evidence is absolutely the worst way to go with this kind of thing. There are plenty of vaccine side effects studies going on, we should just wait on those.

My daughter is a nurse and had the jab a couple of weeks ago. Sore arm and really tired the next day but right as rain after that.

I hope she's ok. Great that she's been offered the vaccine and thanks to her for the role she's doing too.

As a frontline NHS worker I've had my first dose along with many colleagues. Most of us had sore arms and a few had mild fatigue for a day or two but nothing more than that. My wife had the Oxford one as she works in a different Trust and she had similar effects.

Obviously we're all learning as we go with this to some extent, including GPs. I have proposed some research within our local Trust about some of the psychological processes that might also be associated with having the vaccine. I'm thinking particularly about things like anxiety, relief etc and how these affect us physically alongside things like a good degree of underlying stress that many workers are already experiencing. I think any effects are a combination of physical and psychological.

Friend who is a key worker said several colleagues had had the Oxford one & reported hangover-like side effects lasting 2-3 days. They're all in their 20s & 30s, I did wonder about the psychological angle!

Getting my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Tuesday. Nobody in my work place had any side affects of the first dose.

My mum and dad (80's) both had the Pfizer one 12 days ago and they have not noticed any effect at all.
I think I did read somewhere that mild reactions are more noticeable in younger people.

Just trying to get a picture of what the side effect situation is. Aside from very early on there has not been much information about the side effects so I thought that anything other than very mild side effects was going to be rare. That there were 3 people contacting a small, rural GP surgery on the same day because the side effects were strong enough to concern them disturbed my early understanding.

The response from the Twtderatti has, as is often the case, been re-assuring.

not entirely sure why that would be reassurance :) as the TWTDeratti who have voiced their opinions and anectdotes so far, and hey let me add more grist to that mill, I know 3 people of working age (early to mid 30s), who the vaccine has knocked for 6 and have had to take time off work and 1 over 80 who hasnt noticed any difference at all, but we arent giving you a truly random sampling of the data to draw a proper conclusion from it.

we are only giving you pockets of information, and the problem there is these pockets might not be representative of the whole. if you are only seeing 5% of a picture how can you possibly judge what the other 95% looks like

TWTD is barely representive sometimes of the whole following of Ipswich Town football club, its very unlikely to be representative with something like side effects to a vaccine being administered nationwide.

No side effects but the following article is concerning.

Funny when old frail people have a vaccine and die its because they are old and frail but if they die with covid and are old and frail its covid that killed them?

Doesn’t seem funny at all to me.

What are you implying?

What are you concerned about? Are you suggesting that old and frail people are not dying of the effects of Covid 19?
