Thankyou for giving me back exciting football 21:44 - Aug 10 with 10071 views | ChateauWines | Thank you all at Gamechanger, Cookie and the players. Despite tonight's result that was most enjoyable game I've seen us play in for years. It's very clear what they are working to achieve. If that's our 2nd XI I'm more than happy

Thankyou for giving me back exciting football on 10:28 - Aug 12 by C_HealyIsAPleasure | That’s all lovely, but he still didn’t say that |
Makin still saying the same things he was pulled up on at the time when I said he was 'not universally popular' from having spoken to an ex-Pompey player and he read it and continued to state it as me saying he was 'universally disliked' which is obviously totally different. No wonder he's so OTT when he even misrepresents things on the same thread let alone on other ones - I don't think it's deliberate, just an inability to read through the red mist.

Thankyou for giving me back exciting football on 12:22 - Aug 12 by Herbivore | Your words were that this is our "best and most exciting" start to a season since Robson's first season in charge. You said that about a start that sees us winless after two home games against much smaller clubs. If you didn't really mean that it's our best and most exciting start since Robson's first season then why did you say it was and what did you actually mean? |
It bis the best and most exciting start since then. We now have the most potential to be successful like that since then. Its not rocket science.

So it's a better and more exciting start than we've made at any point in the last 50 years according to you. That's absolutely bonkers, mate.

Yes it is due to the potential and chance to part of the build. Don't be so one dimensional.

I get where you're coming from LM The unknown potential is the excitement. The potential of what this sort of squad COULD do in this league first of all is exciting etc etc

Not even close! Better than 1975? Better than 1980? Really? Those season we thought we might win div 1. This year we’re hoping we might be in with a shout for promotion to div 2!

we kept up the tradition of losing cup games. no worries - yet. 8 pts adrift after 10 would be a concern.

Or even the 2 prem seasons at the start ofvthe millennium? That second season may have turned out cack, but the prospect of the uefa Cup campaign, our fancy continental signings etc was a genuinely exciting time.

Yes but we had cr@p infrastructure and no chance of sustaining the start. When I refer to best start I am best start to a season with the future in mind.

Thankyou for giving me back exciting football on 09:54 - Aug 12 by Dubtractor | Ffs. Joe didn't say it wasn't the most exciting transfer window, he said it wasn't the most exciting thing overall. In the actual post you've just quoted. I feel for Joe at the moment. Since toilet gate he can't say anything without there being a pile on. [Post edited 12 Aug 2021 10:01]

Thankyou for giving me back exciting football on 22:53 - Aug 10 by itfcjoe | To think our reserves losing at home to Newport’s reserves is the most entertaining game in years is embarrassing, yes. |
It depends if there was plenty of chances created, I can remember plenty of games we won, where there was only one effort created. that is not entertainment in my eyes. Sorry we disagree, but as i`ve said before I so nearly gave up our season tickets the season we made the playoffs under MM. because I found the so called entertainment boring
Thankyou for giving me back exciting football on 20:11 - Aug 12 with 1122 views | ChateauWines | Wow! I'm amazed how my OP was just me displaying my pleasure in seeing how our club is coming back to us. It's first job is to bring a community together and entertain us. Surely people are not really expecting this to be 100% perfect overnight. I'm certain in 8,9,10 games the squad and team will gel and be playing attractive, entertaining, exciting and winning football. For years we have had nothing to cheer about. We now have a great opportunity to kick on and be reborn. The biggest threat to this not happening in my opinion is us. Yes us the supporters. If we turn on Cook and players this will all fail. Stick with it and enjoy the ride. As Joe Royle once said, " Supporters? Clues in the name "

I was actually there Tuesday, and like you I was really entertained, obviously flawed the Newport B team shouldn’t beat the Ipswich B team, but with a bit of luck we beat them 3-1 which would have been the fair result I also found Saturday good in parts, without perhaps the waves of attack we saw on Tuesday. What I find strange with the negativity is that people clearly don’t remember what football was like under Burley…. Where we played with energy and we had critically waves of attack for extended periods. Royce and Magilton gave us that in part. But we really haven’t seen it under any Evans manager. It’s what the Town fans crave. And will bring them back in droves. I’m beginning to see glimpses of that under Cook… it will take time, there will be bumps, getting confidence into the team is critical. If we don’t back the projects, if unrealistically expect too much and too early, then yes I agree we may be a factor in Project Cook failing . Back it, give it time, I have no doubt we’ll see progress.

Don't ever apologise for enjoying something you have paid to hopefully enjoy. You didn't buy a ticket with a small print promise of a win, you paid to support the club during a game and by doing so had hoped to watch something that made the price of said ticket worth while. The fact you were personally happy with what you saw, is brilliant, and you're not alone in enjoying the game despite the result. ( I didn't go, but i'm talking about other social channels ) Good for you
