Too one dimensional, just give the ball to the wingers and hope for the best. Another poor side we have beat, but most teams in this league will beat us if we play like that.

When did discussion become such a bad thing?
It’s bizzare isn’t it,we are 14th in the league and won 3 games.
The narrative that, a win is a win is so silly when we have been so bad this season. If we can get a win at Pompey or Plymouth I’m happy to eat my words, I don’t mind being wrong. But I just don’t think we were very good.

It’s ok to do that, if it’s underpinned by really good performances.
I don’t think we were awful btw, but I’m not sure I’m seeing enough to think that we will be a top 6 team this year. It an change and I hope it will. But I still think we aren’t quite there, and when will we get there?

I just want a bit more.

Two are home wins against bottom of the table sides too.
I'm encouraged by recent points tally, but am cautious like you about what happens when we play capable teams.

Chaplin worked his socks off though. There were a few times we tried to play the ball through the middle and Morsey made a couple of runs.
If the number 10 keeps the opposition busy it creates the room on the flanks. I actually wonder whether the way we play will result in a particularly creative number 10.
Of course, Chaplin scored as well.
He’s so busy, I really like him. His movement is exceptional, if he’s fit and available he absolutely has to start IMO. Chaplin in the #10 with Celina to the left and Burns to the right still feels to me like the best blend across that 3. Edwards coming off the bench works too.
Coulson probably comes in for Penney I would say, otherwise it’s starting to take shape. We just seem to lack a bit of confidence and killer instinct. Aside from Doncaster we’ve barely shown an ability to build from taking a lead.
Today was a banana skin…a win was all that mattered… end of (n/t) on 17:35 - Oct 9 by Marshalls_Mullet
Not end of...
...end of.
Yes that’s better
But seriously Ipswich have played better at patches in this season than we have for years. But we’ve been inconsistent.
But then people just say it’s only about the results and winning is all that matters
And then we win against a team that we’re fighting for their lives and difficult, and yet we still get criticised
We just need to win, period, for weeks and weeks, and it doesn’t matter how now… if we’ve won a few and are back up there then let’s worry if it is the football we all really want
I thought Shrewsbury were disgusting, to use a word the captain uses. Taking a shot from just outside the box in front of goal is not fair. Horrible football. Don't they know that you have to work the ball down the flanks and then cross it?

I don't think we were brilliant, not at all, but we got the job done in a game that, even a few weeks ago, we'd have likely thrown away. Yes, we do need to play better than that more often than not, but there's signs of progress. Seeing a game out, a more organised defensive set up, some of our passing combinations at time is a joy to watch.
I said at 1-0 up against Doncaster that we could go on to score 6 or 7 that night. This afternoon I said after about 10 minutes that it was a game where we could end up struggling purely due to how bad Shrewsbury were - too complacent, not being able to play our usual style due to their formation and determination to get a draw and we dropped to their level. Not every game will go the same way, but what's important is to learn from new challenges whilst getting wins. Today we had to find ways around (or rather, through) a team who had everyone behind the ball.
Pompey, Sunderland etc won't play like that, they'll be games where we can play our way, but today will have taught us a lot in terms of facing that sort of style.
Work to be done? Undoubtedly. A good win nonetheless? Of course.
The table is starting to look a lot better. Saturday is a big game and a real chance to create daylight between us and the bottom 5/6 sides and start clawing back points on those around and above us.

didn't a wise man once say that winning ganes playing badly is the sign of a great team? I'm not saying that we are a great team but we are winning games without hitting anywhere near top gear...isn't that a positive?
That assessment only works for good teams who win regularly.

Agree that those look the best attacking 3 behind Bonne.
Find it frustrating that our midfield 2 sit so deep, surely we can afford Evans/another to play further forward.

Think Penney’s done enough to keep his shirt Just a tight hamstring apparently, Coulson needs to be match fit I’d say
