The low down.
Great player on his day at this level. Should be aiming for championship. He is skilful and can beat multiple men with his close control. He plays as a RM or ad an old fashioned Right Inside forward. Defensively, he is certainly not as quick in the other direction and his crossing leaves alot to be desired but he does have an eye for goal and when in the mood, a game winner.
He has a petulant side and was sent off for kicking out, probably the only time we saw him with a bit of fire in his belly. He isn't someone who is a ball winner and his heading is that on a 50p piece.
Pace to burn going forward, an exciting player who can score a goal but can equally be frustrating
Good luck to you and Marcus for the future .
Regards

Hopefully a season elsewhere he could regain that confidence and come back a player that could be useful next season if he scores a decent amount… Altho if he wouldn’t cut it in the championship for us, Pompey may want to keep him, in which case we do a deal… win, win.

Joe Piggott is a good link up man and will create more than he will score, he is the sort of player I felt should have done well with us but for whatever reason it did not work out for him here. I fully expect him to have a good year for you.

Pigott is a total mystery to me. He looked a really good player for Wimbledon v us. And his stats are good. Then he just never got going at Ipswich. Maybe its down to our system. Loss of confidence? I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's not banging them in elsewhere.

Thanks for the insights but I am a little confused.

Why does he have more pace in attack than in defence? Is what you really mean, he can't be bothered to do any defending?

I presume the heading on a 50p piece means it is rather random which direction his heading ends up going.

The thing is, as with Pigott, in a different system with different players and a new environment we may well get something a little different. The crossing comment is a bit concerning, though.

You've been so insightful about him this summer. Just like you were about 'unfit, crap, hopeless Will Keane' a year before. You have gone so, so quiet about the latter !

I get a distinct feeling that it just didn't work out for him here and he will be a regular goal scorer for someone else at this level. If he does it for Pompey, is unavailable against us and we beat Pompey's points tally, then it will have worked out well for us. Even better if we get promoted and Pompey pay a fee for him at the end of the season.

Pigott does nothing particularly well. While 6' 2", he isn't the typical big target man & doesn't win much in the air. He also doesn't seem to hold up the ball well or have any pace. It's a mystery to me how Pigott scored 47 goals in 3 and a bit seasons at Wimbledon & I can only assume that how they played suited him.

Agreed. I just wonder how much the loss of his father early on in the season affected him.

I don’t think you’ve captured the same acoustic resonance of a banjo striking a cow.

Given it was a response to Veggie though, let’s go with the avocado.
