It’s a bit of a fallacy, it’s a club that has always flown the Union Jack, so of course when the monarch dies they will fly the Union Jack
It's also a club fanbase containing individuals and groups who sent death threats to Neil Lennon so let's not pretend that there isn't an element of provocation in the gesture.

What’s some fans being cünts got to do with this gesture?

That the context within which it occurred is not as basic or as simple as you suggest. Other opinions are available and I don't think it unreasonable or immature to point that out.
I'm not trying to change your mind about what you think, just attempting to reflect the whole, more nuanced picture rather than one particular POV.

Provocation to who? The fans inside the ground?

Celtic fans. It was obviously going to be seen online and on TV, no? I presume you weren't at Ibrox, and neither was I, yet thanks to the power of the internet, we saw it.

There is nothing wrong with Rangers fans flying a Union Jack, and there is nothing wrong with Celtic fans flying an Irish flag, both are baked into the identity of each club
Singing F the crown, or F the pope and the IRA are wrong, the hate is the issue - not the clubs showing what their club represents

I mean, sure, that's a fine if rather simplistic take, but to reach that conclusion you have to willfully ignore an awfully large amount of historical context and precedent.
I suppose it is possible that some might not know much about the situation, it is after all a rather complicated one, and football fans aren't generally well known for their nuance, so I don't judge harshly. Like I said earlier, I'm not even trying to convince anyone of anything, I just thought it might be helpful to present a fuller, perhaps more accurate overview of the situation than some I've read on this thread.
No harm, no foul.

That is so naive I can't believe that you can believe the flags are just pieces of different coloured cotton. Have you never considered what they represent to ( and against) each other?

On this subject, I couldn’t attend the game on Tuesday, but my mate sent me a picture of a British Flag, with an Ipswich and Rangers flag on it at Portman Road, and the words “No Surrender” and the Red Hand of Ulster in the middle. If I turned up to Portman Road with an Irish flag and a message supporting the IRA I would be rightly turfed away.
The links with English football clubs and Rangers is all about ultra nationalism and it’s naive to pretend otherwise.

They clearly both equally hate each other’s flags, but they are national flags not fringe flags that are hate filled using to bait each other.
They are so intrinsically linked to the clubs, that they feature on shirts, on badges, on social media headers for each club - the clubs are proud to be associated with them and they will continue to be flown at each teams games

There’s a difference though between a Union Jack and a Union Jack with that on it though. I’m sure lots of English fans have different reasons for supporting Celtic over Rangers and vice versa - mine are Gazza and that they play in blue

Just wanted to make it clear, I’m not accusing you of being ultra nationalist or anything of the sort.
