As Oscar Wilde once said, "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."

Well he knew a clever sounding quote would get him mentioned on TWTD 100 years later, I suppose.

Most people don't hate Norwood per se, just some of the things (or one particular thing) he's done.

Norwood v Cruncher on 23:06 - Feb 1 with 2416 views | Trequartista | The only question i would be interested in Norwood answering is why did he thank Cook after Cook had dropped him to the U23s? i.e. what was the story behind that as we still haven't found out. I presume they were so busy giggling and promoting themselves that they never asked?

Terrific show. Personally I like seeing our players having a bit of a laugh and a good chat. Some dinosaurs might not be keen there we are.

I don’t think anyone condones that mate and like I said it’s only a handful who do…it would have suited their agenda if he’d come across as a bit of a thicko who spouted those tired old cliches footballers so often come out with in interviews…instead he came across really well…first time I have ever heard him speak and up until now I thought he was a scouser… [Post edited 2 Feb 2022 8:10]

Fair play to cruncher and Martin in parts they took Norwoods well researched banter quite well. They took Norwood on knowing this was a likely outcome as well. Enjoyed seeing a player talk with personality and create some awkward on air moments as he spoke to some of the abuse he has clearly noted receiving. Pod wars continues with all armies unscathed

People tend to portray Norwood as being thick as pig sh1t. In reality, he speaks very well.

I thought it was a great watch and was really impressed with Norwood. He certainly came across as bright and knew what he was going to be up against.

Unfortunately there are a few who can’t separate some off his off field misdemeanours from his ability to play football. So it spills into the “pub player” jibes. Or made up nonsense that he was partying in his garden all summer rather than getting himself fit for the season. No one condones what he has done at times off field. But he’s a more than capable league one striker, and without his recent goal run our season would be well and truly over. [Post edited 2 Feb 2022 13:30]

Cruncher did ask a few questions, eg. Why do wrestling with a groin strain, so tbf he did stand his ground somewhat. But it was never going to be a show where Nors was grilled, that would have been a disaster and probably mean no players would do the show in future. I enjoyed it, never get insight like that normally, Nors was very honest.

I don't doubt that he's fairly bright - particularly in his specialist field of football. Wouldn't have got as far as he has if genuinely dim. Think a lot of footballers (and managers) spout cliches because they are asked the same questions over and over again with cameras or microphones shoved in their faces and only seconds to answer. Often just minutes after the physical and mental exertion of a game. A more relaxed, conversational format allows them to express themselves freely and get into their subject. Have seen a number of current and former players speaking at fan gatherings, they are pretty articulate.

Norwood v Cruncher on 19:43 - Feb 1 by Mullet | Given one of them was more than defending Mason Greenwood it’s not a great look for the club is it? Hard to reconcile the tweets about the club supporting various charities after employing Jeffers, to then associate with a group so divisive and happy to put out such views. Regardless of all the prior stuff |

His 'partying' was Summer 2020, when the lockdown first happened. He spent that summer (having knicked half the gym equipment from the club and proceeding not to use it) just having bbq's most days, drinking every day and playing golf (when allowed). He came back seriously out of shape, which even other first team players made remarks about. Summer 2021 was a different kettle of fish though. He came back in seriously good nick having made the cut from Cooks cull and really knuckled down.

Just to say that wasn't one of the show presenters. I know who you are referring to. Quite outspoken but seemed to be suggested he should be trialed in court not on twitter. I'd say the evidence is overwhelming but I think he possibly hadn't seen or heard it. Either way Greenwood deserves to spend time in her majesties pleasure.
