Self-inflicted joylessness... 11:41 - Sep 9 with 4860 views | portmanking | Where else in the world would this happen? I'll go and draw my curtains and sit in a darkened room for the weekend instead then... that's what they want, right?

But matches are moved because of international call ups, train strikes, tv schedules, weather or whatever and I don't remember people complaining about knock-on effects to local business. It's not a big deal in the context that it's a pretty regular occurrence. |
With the exception of weather notice is normally given and appropriate plans can be made including the ordering of stock and planning the staff rotas.

Self-inflicted joylessness... on 17:23 - Sep 9 by BloomBlue | I agree, but should also cover players and staff at the club. The game should go ahead tomorrow but if some of the Town players want to mourn instead they should be allowed to miss the game. |
Agreed. And if the referee doesn't want to turn up, well, it will be like most other weeks really.

Main reason is this is something that was chosen by the FA to do only 24 hours before the weekend begins. It was a choice and they chose wrong. In all your examples bar weather.. you get advanced warning so business and staff etc know of it before hand and some staff for example could have got a shift at a different event perhaps. Businesses could have done something different midweek to make up for the loss of earnings coming. Weather... if called off usually its on the day so the casual staff would tend to be entitled to the payment still. However with 24 hours notice they're not entitled to it no longer. There's various people who have missed out this weekend. Just because it's fine for your son, doesn't mean the situation hasn't been awfully dealt with by the FA overall.

Self-inflicted joylessness... on 18:46 - Sep 9 with 383 views | Bluroo | It’s all starting to feel like the Dignification Olympics. Lots of events in which judges will award points to the most diginified response to each given challenge, via a secret scoring system that nobody understands.

Self-inflicted joylessness... on 11:51 - Sep 9 by portmanking | This. This is exactly the point. Why punish football fans? Local hospitality businesses? Cambridge game will no doubt be played in a midweek now which is a missed Saturday for pubs and restaurants in Ipswich that are no doubt struggling. The whole thing's just tone deaf and doesn't align with public mood. |
7 people up voted your post, I’d hardly call it the public mood.. ..
