We WILL drop points shortly. 20:45 - Apr 6 with 3106 viewsTheBoyBlue

We've been brilliant, but the law of averages says that we'll drop points in the next 2 or 3 games. It could be tomorrow, it could be Cheltenham. If we could still have it in our hands after it happens, that'll be great, but I hope we're all prepared for it and we won't all fall into a spiral of depression and recriminations.

I include myself in that, as I had written automatic promotion off a few weeks ago.

We don’t need to win every game, we only need to avoid dropping more than two points to Barnsley and get two more points than Wendies or Muff in the remaining matches to get promoted.

I’m not sure if I would want us to go into 1st or 2nd early in the run-in and become the hunted or sneak into the automatic places in the last couple of matches when it’s too late for our rivals to come back at us. Whatever way we do it, it’s going to be nerve-wracking

Poll: Compared to the 23/24 squad how would you rate the current squad (without Omari)

That must be why most clubs aim for mid-table mediocrity - it's just so much easier on the nerves.

Reading through... this should be bookmarked as one of the most TWTD threads of all time*

*Not involving cheese, politics or transgender skateboarding

+1 for "transgender skateboarding"*

*Though for all we know it could be an Olympic event by 2032 (cue potential 20-pager, which certainly would be typical TWTD, but I'm banking on tomorrow being a match-day, thus thankfully thwarting that possibility!).

Your usage of "law of averages" in this instance is a well known logical fallacy known as the "gamblers fallacy".

Let's just back the team and if they have an off day or are unlucky then that's either the opposition doing well or just one of those things.

Anyone sensible won't go into meltdown about it.

Not defeatist. Just realistic. We can't win every game, although you could argue we should. We are most likely to drop them against Peterborough next, by which time we should hopefully be well on our way to securing automatic. Just hoping to preempt the defeatism when it does happen, especially if its this weekend.

For what it's worth, an early goal tomorrow will make all the difference and hopefully Cheltenham will be less frustrating at their place than if we were playing them at home.

COYBs!

Looks like you've posted to tell yourself to expect Town to lose soon (defeatist wibble) and to not blub as much as the last time this team drew a game. Not my realism ta. Someone else in the thread said it better, but shouldn't you have just put it on a postit on your fridge? Along with photo of kitten in a plant pot maybe.

We are the best team in this division. We are going up.

Admit I do share some of you thoughts ‘surely we won’t keep winning’

However, looking at the ‘stats’ we create so many chances, and limit teams to Jack sht against us.
We dominate the ball, have discipline, fantastic shape, and they work their nuts off. Not to mention the quality of player we have.

We actually seem unstoppable.

We’ll be good again... one day
