Sam Surridge - Nottingham Forest... (n/t) on 15:02 - Jun 30 by Naylorsrightboot | Simms is nothing like Hirst. He won’t run all day, he hasn’t the engine. He is more an out and out striker. This guy is very underwhelming if true though. [Post edited 30 Jun 2023 15:04]

Disagree. Forest fans rate him highly and are actually disappointed with this. They feel he should have been given more opportunities season just gone. On their forum they think top champ sides should be after him and that if someone got him for the £2 mil they paid it would be an absolute steal.

Sam Surridge - Nottingham Forest... on 11:25 - Jun 30 by portmanking | I don't think we're going to sign a 'lead no. 9'. Personally, I think we will sign two 9s that can rotate and play depending on the blocks of opposition defences. Surridge + one other would be decent as a newly promoted Champ team IMO. The way our team is built, we don't need a flashy 9, just a competent one to work the backline, retain possession and have the vision to combine with the 2x 10s. Surridge is currently a PL striker. I don't think there's been any newly promoted clubs from League 1 do much better on the ambition front. |
I wonder if we’ll be in for a number ten of Chaplin and Broadhead quality? Any sort of injury or drop of form for one them and we suddenly seen a bit thin there (I.e. Harness as cover who isn’t awful, but would like better)

He reminds me of John Stead so not against. If true 7 million for Simms I am against think we could do better.
Sam Surridge - Nottingham Forest... on 21:56 - Jun 30 with 2835 views | burnbudgiesburn | Reading the Sunderland forums on Simms, about half of them would like him back the other half list his weaknesses as workrate and hold up play - both you would think not ideal in a McKenna player/system ITFC Analytics looked at Surridge and said his technical/hold up play is first rate. I'd prefer Surridge at 2m than 7m on Simms. Less risk, more upside for me.

I agree with you on the last bit but don't think any chance we're sending £7 mil on anyone. Sunderland forum is always amusing. Broadhead was god whilst in for him and when Wigan got him he was useless. Same is happening with Simms.

wasn't Rak-Sakyi strongly rumoured but it was suggested that the deal wouldn't happen until late into the window?

Sims and Ladapo both draw similarities when listening to clubs whose coaching staff were below par. Ladapo was criticized for bad attitude and being lazy by Rotherham fans - which is as far from his actual performance as you could get.

Zaha leaving will mean they want to look at him in depth I guess.

Ladapo’s been brilliant and I hope he has a part to play. But I don’t think his workrate is the best in terms of tracking back or pressing from the front. I think that’s ultimately one of the reasons KM went for Hirst despite Ladapo’s better goals to games ratio.

They both brought different things to the table. You've also got to remember that Hirst was only here for half a season, getting to know a new team and teammates, was unfit and took a good 10 games to get match fit before he started scoring, so you can't really compare the 2. Although if Surridge is available and the Forest fans think he's top championship standard then that's good enough for me as they've been there and done it, especially if he's available for half the Simms price.

I wonder if Camara or Piggott could be used as part of a swap deal for Bishop?

I really don't think Bishop is the answer. Surprised Yates not been mentioned more. Hopefully something is going on. In the interview with MA on Saturday he seemed to suggest new faces in the next 2 weeks (hopefully) so hopefully things are progressed more than whats banded around on social media.
