Should Bolton be punished for cancelling their match 16:02 - Aug 21 with 1511 views | Crawfordsboot | On first take I had some sympathy with Bolton not wanting to overplay their youngsters but on reflection I think they should not be allowed to get away with this. It is not fair on other clubs that play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday for them to have to play against a Bolton team that is rested and fresh. Sooner or later one of those teams will be leggy and get beaten. Its sad but either they need to put a proper team out and fulfil their fixture obligations, or they should withdraw from the league. When you see that Bolton, Bury, Oldham and Macclesfield are all struggling in the shadows of United and City it highlights the fact that a league structure that dates from the forties and fifties, when travel was difficult, is today totally impractical and that the 90 odd teams in the league should be heavily pruned.
Should Bolton be punished for cancelling their match on 16:05 - Aug 21 with 1475 views | GeoffSentence | Too right they should be punished. They are playing for time until the takeover goes through and they can play those like Adam Thompson whose signing is delayed due to the takeover. The game against Donny will be re-arranged and when they do play it Bolton will be in a much stronger position.

Agreed. It’s absolute BS this excuse for not playing their young players 3 times per week or whatever. If there were 7 or 8 academy players featured last match, then they should be forced to rotate them for 7 or 8 that didn’t play. As you say they’re playing for time and I hope they have the book thrown at them. Horrible situation for them but not acceptable that they’re manipulating it to push back as many fixtures as possible.

Bolton still haven't been punished for not playing the last game of last season. Time must be running out the transfer window closes in ten days so presumably after then they can't sign loan players etc.

Should Bolton be punished for cancelling their match on 16:46 - Aug 21 with 1290 views | BigManBlue | Yes. It's starting to bring the integrity of the league into question. If we're talking about protecting players, then that's fine , but then Bolton will just have to field different players, not have the match put off.

Should Bolton be punished for cancelling their match on 16:50 - Aug 21 with 1270 views | Herbivore | Was it Bolton that cancelled it? I didn't think a club could do that. Surely the game should be forfeited rather than postponed?

Should Bolton be punished for cancelling their match on 16:50 - Aug 21 with 1277 views | Illinoisblue | didn't realise Pompey v Rotherham has been postponed this weekend too. Clashes with a music festival which seems like a bad case of planning from pompey and the EFL fixture dept.

I know that. Just seems like bad planning given that clubs have the opportunity to tell the EFL about any requests to play away on certain weekends. The usual catch-all "safety reasons" cited for the postponement as if having a football game on and a music festival on is somehow impossible to deal with.

Glad you've reminded us that Bolton have not been punished for failing to fulfil a fixture last season. EFL should be reminded too, just in case they want to sweep this under the carpet. They should have been relegated 2 divisions for that failure alone.
