Yeah. Ignoring a Govt mandated quarantine in a foreign country probably won’t end well

Sounds like CONMEBOL may have got involved - I think there may have been an agreement that isolation rules would be waived for those taking part in the international matches, otherwise why would Brazil have tried calling up Premier League players and protested when they were not able to do so?

If this match is not played I think CONMEBOL/FIFA will go in hard on Brazil and gift Argentina a 3-0 win. FIFA have been pleading for the UK government to lift quarantine for the footballers and now Brazil, who have been protesting against it, are now using their equivalent of those rules.

I say it again, would the Brazilian authorities have been that fussed about the nine Premier League players in their squad? Would they have been forced into isolation? It's a pantomime out of anger that Martinez. Romero, Lo Celso and Buendia were released whilst the likes of Allison, Richarlison and Firmino weren't.

Tricky one that. If the players in question have committed a crime (in lying to the authorities in some way) then who are FIFA to say when and where is an appropriate time for Brazilian authorities to take action.

Absolutely. It’s a political move which won’t end well for the Brazilian team. The 4 UK based players have got 10 days in a UK hotel to look forward to as well, unless they go to a ‘cleansing country’ before and sit out their quarantine there

As said they're a bit daft if they ommitted UK off the forms considering the Premier League is broadcast worldwide. They could hardly cover it up. I think, in more liklihood, they misunderstood the forms and thought it just referred to the country flown from, rather than all. It is farcical but, as I said before, if the Brazilian players had been released by the Premier League clubs would they have had to isolate for 14 days? If so they would have missed all three games.

Tim Vickery's saying that only non-Brazilians have to quarantine for 14 days if having been in the UK after a certain point which is ruddy ridiculous if so, but explains why they cried over their players not being released but have now called foul on the Argentines.

Yep, this is the new rule In addition, players are apparently planning to head back via a stay in Croatia to avoid UK hotel quarantine [Post edited 5 Sep 2021 22:02]

Surely that affects the integrity of the game or whatever FIFA were blathering on about too. Every country with UK based players are weakened when having to play away to Brazil.

Brazil didn't call up their UK-based players. They have a bit of a beef with Argentina calling up four... They could have stopped them at immigration (or, even protested when the squad was named) or when Argentina trained yesterday, but they decided to make a political point of it!
