Any tech types 14:36 - May 17 with 2737 views | jeera | Please. The sound on my laptop has packed up. This includes Bluetooth added devices not working. I have tried updating drivers and uninstalling/reinstalling. They don't tend to have separate cards do they? It's going to be a motherboard thing isn't it. Any advice gratefully received. Edit: no I haven't pressed the mute button. [Post edited 17 May 2020 14:37]

Any tech types on 21:43 - Jun 2 by NewcyBlue | It seems that there are various problems with these. First try using the Volume up button on the keyboard. It seems to work independently of the system tray icon. Secondly the sensor in the headphone jack may think there is a jack plugged in. Try blowing it or give it a scrape with a toothpick. Lastly you may need to change the driver type being used as it seems that these get confused and there is an alternative driver that can be tried. |
Buttons been pressed a zillion times and drivers been reinstalled over and again too. I'll get some compressed air into it if I have any as that's worth a shot, ta.

This a clean device I'll have you know. I have another old heap of a laptop for that sort of thing. I also checked this wasn't in the Football Section because of you. I was concerned I was gonna have Texters after me!

If this issue persists, I'll start a crowdfunder so you can visit Mrs Palm and Fred Dibnah whenever you wish. God speed, jeera.

That's just your drivers buddy. Done that many times but no change. I would just assume it's the speakers except that one BT device also won't work and normally with speakers you'd expect some sign with loss of quality before they pack up. No, I'm missing something somewhere but might get in touch with them and see if I can get a chat with a tech guy. Cheers for the effort buh.

Yeah it’s removing the drivers and then restarting. Perhaps check to see if there is an update for the BIOS. That can sometimes throw some random problems up. When did you have these problems? Have you got a system restore point before that that you can restore to and see if it works?

Not ignoring you, sorry, was just having a look through. I only have recent restore points but one might jut scrape in. I'll have a look through tomorrow to make sure there's nothing there I want to hold on to since. There has been a Lenovo system update pending that was supposed to happen last week but for some reason didn't. And despite refreshing the update search there's nothing showing. I was hoping a fix might arrive with that. You and another poster have suggested a restore and maybe that's the answer but I won't mess about now as it's late. I also need to try Keno's switching it on and off again but that seemed a bit advanced when he suggested it and I was feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Good luck with it. Otherwise you can get a USB Sound Card for under a tenner Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter for Windows and Mac. Plug and play No drivers Needed. (AU-MMSA) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lpS1Eb6G9WWK9

Yeah I saw those but just didn't want something sticking out the side of the thing. If I don't get it sorted I'll probably just buy some more speakers and be done with that. It's just convenient to be able to move it about with no additions, that's all. Thank you for your patience fella. When do you set off to sea? [Post edited 2 Jun 2020 22:42]

Maybe they were tears of joy? Sorry. At least you've had a good run of being home this time and got to spend lots of time with her and Seb. You'll be home for the birth I take it. That's been agreed with work etc?

I’ve been home 4 months. Longest in years. I should be home for the birth. Let’s see what happens with a second wave of this virus!

That did cross my mind but didn't like to say. You don't want to be one of those stuck on board a vessel for weeks after your shift is done, I know. 4 months! That's a decent hit, but of course it's going to be hard. Got used to being around each other and littl'un will miss you. But it's worth it when you're back again. It's them swings and roundabouts thing isn't it.
