So the next logical question would be, is Wes Burns being touted by another Club and likely to be leaving, and the Club haven’t said anything yet ? What would people think of this possibility? I’d be totally pissed off if this were to be the case. But these things happen in the game don’t they.

So Harness is in the door on 16:17 - Jul 18 with 1725 views | SheffordBlue | Think it's far more likely that the club are looking at cover for Burns if he goes to the World Cup. We also suffered when Burns was injured last season and at times in games he looked very tired - having an option to give him a rest is really positive. The new deal Burns signed would mean it would take a really big fee for the club to consider it.

We have cover for Burns in KVY.

Probably should have said "additional cover" - I really hope KVY stays fit and has a good season but he's ended up broken a lot lately. Harness has lots of flexibility in position and McK has said they are predominantly looking at him for a "couple of roles"

I don't see KVY scoring 13 goals in a season, do you?

Not from a cover player, no. If he was scoring 13 a season Burns wouldn't be here but he's more than adequate cover.

I guess it's about being flexible and when teams figure out how to stop out 3421 system having a plan B [Post edited 18 Jul 2022 16:56]

Not sure i agree, i think his injuries have meant he's lost about 2 yards of pace. I think the way he plays and how he likes to beat people he can't afford to lose that much speed. Had he not have had those injuries I'm sure he'd be playing at least a level higher but i just cant see how he can get back to that level.

But he's 'cover' - your cover player is never going to be as 'good' as your first teamer.

I think he might play inside left with Chaplin as the inside right. Either that or he plays as a CAM and Chaplin is moved up front alongside Ladapo/Jackson/Cat and we play with 2 forwards.

Doesn't he need to be able to do similar things though? I don't see KVY running onto a Celina through ball and slotting past the keeper. The flipside is that we hopefully won't be so reliant on Burns next season, in which case you could be proved right.

But is he 'adequate cover'? I dont love the idea of him having to play a run of 10 games due to an injury to Burns.
So Harness is in the door on 18:05 - Jul 18 with 1042 views | TomTheWriter | Feel like I’ve put this on about 10 threads now. Harness is not a wing back. He is as much a wing-back as Aluko, Chaplin and John-Jules. Pompey fans have already told us his worst attribute is his crossing, so we are not going to play him in a position where he has to cross. He is fast, he is technical, and he is a great finisher. I would put a lot of money on him being 1 of the 2 behind the striker next season. If we play Harness at wing-back, it’s because Burns and KVY have gone down with a mysterious injury/illness, and even then you’d throw Agbaje in or push JD further forward. Harness is very similar to Chaplin, with much more pace but a little bit less finishing ability. Think he’ll start as the inside winger on the left on the opening day.
