God, it’s hard work watching us 18:54 - Jun 29 with 6283 views | Chrisd | Germany were dog sh*t and we were a little better. We’re going to be that Greek side from 2004 that won the Euros, it’s not going to be pretty but we keep grinding out the results. [Post edited 29 Jun 2021 18:55]

God, it’s hard work watching us on 13:23 - Jun 30 by Kropotkin123 | This German side (ranked 12th in the world) ripped apart Portugal (Ranked 5th in the world). Yes, they aren't the best team in the world (by rankings that is Belgium). But they are clearly a good side and more than capable of beating England on their day. Many, before this game, didn't believe England would win and the majority didn't expect it to be easy if we did. To suggest the German team are in someway past it, when three of their players just won the Champions League this season, and 4 or 5 of them were winners of the champions league the season before, is ridiculous. Hardly ridiculous when I stated they aren’t the team they once were and you give me the stat they are ranked 12th in the world!! In the past, seeing them out of the top 5, forget that, top 3 would be a total surprise. Personally, I was quite relaxed, thought they were two evenly matched sides, perhaps with us having the edge. A lot of the anxiety was based on our history against the Germans in the knockout stages of these competitions, not the ‘fear factor’ of their current side. [Post edited 30 Jun 2021 14:08]

I like how you've focused on the (often arbitrary) FIFA ranking and ignored the point about what their players have just won.

And? Did Chelsea win the CL solely on Werner and Havertz’s efforts? What about all the English lads and other nationalities in that side? Did they not have an impact throughout the competition? To be fair, although Havertz scored the winner against City in the final, overall I’m sure if you ask Chelsea fans they’d say Werner and Havertz have had a relatively quiet start to their Chelsea careers, but they are both young lads who’ll get better with experience. Some of those German players are past their best regardless of what they have won in the past. Neuer, not sure he’s even the best GK in Germany, Hummels and Muller to name a few.

They wouldn't have won it if Havertz didn't score... Whilst Havertz started slowly at Chelsea, he was widely regarded as one of their best players by the end of the season. One of the best players for the champions league winners. Neither Havertz nor Werner are past it, are they? Your assessment of Neuer and Muller is nonsense. They played the first and second most games this season for Bayern, as they won the league by 13 points. Muller was Bayern's second best goal scorer. Teams often have young lads who will get better with experience, doesn't mean they are "dog sh*t" does it? 12th in the world is not "dog sh*t" is it? Perspective. [Post edited 30 Jun 2021 14:14]

Read what I actually said, ‘Germany were dogsh*t’ which implies the way they played, but that doesn’t take away the fact that they have slipped down the rankings, so thanks for pointing that out I didn’t realise they were as low as that. So you do agree with me they have got worse? I’m not sure if you have any Chelsea mates, I have, some are season ticket holders too and they’ve been non-plussed about Havertz and Werner so far, but they did admit they felt they were finding their feet more towards the end of the season. Did I mention they were past it? No, I said they were young and will become better players as they gain experience. Nevertheless, having them involved yesterday wasn’t the same ‘fear factor’ as facing an offensive threat of: Klinsmann, Matthaus Voller, Bierhoff or Klose no matter how much you don’t want to admit it.

David Seaman, who knows a thing or two about keepers, was describing Neuer as still the best keeper in the world in the build up on BBC

It's opinions Joe, you know that. Naturally, there are those that are going to disagree and agree with DS. Genuine question, who looked the better keeper yesterday to you? And forget what Neuer has done in the past, who would you prefer in your goal if you were manager - Pickford or Neuer? We could even stretch it to displays in this tournament, over the 4 games that each of them has played? In my opinion - for what it is worth - the Italian keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is the best keeper in the world currently. Watch how that young lad keeps makes it look easy and what's frightening is he's only going to get better - commanding, decisive and assured that's what you want behind you as a defender.

In no way do I agree with you. I believe you don't have a clue what you are talking about and are just digging to try and save face. Over 40 downvotes indicates that your initial statement holds little to no credibility. They weren't "dogsh*t", they aren't "dogsh*t" and whatever way you want to spin it, it just reinforces a lack of perspective.

Forget the nostalgia, what is clear is Germany aren't as good as what they once were - at this moment in time - and that is evidently clear and your world rankings show that. There's some perspective for you! [Post edited 30 Jun 2021 16:14]

Yes you are correct Germany are not as good as they were. It doesn't make them 'average ' though they are still a very good team. England beat a good Germany team and didn't bottle it like they often do, that's all that can and needs to be said. [Post edited 30 Jun 2021 16:17]

Pretty much every top international side in the world, with the exception of Belgium, is not as good as they ‘once’ were Germany are still one of the best sides in the world, destroyed the reigning holders in the group stage and absolutely represent a scalp You never answered as to which teams you think are better than them btw?

Agreed. Plus 12th in the world means you are one of the best teams in the world. Not sure when being 12th would be seen as poor... or "dog sh*t". We beat one of the top 8 teams in Europe, who had already smashed the 4th best team in Europe. 1 Belgium 2 France 4 England 5 Portugal 6 Spain 7 Italy 10 Denmark 12 Germany
