Summer beers… 20:20 - Jun 20 with 2898 views | hoppy | It’s a nice warm day, you’ve not long got home, enjoying listening to some decent music - you reach for a cool beer from the fridge, and find it going down very pleasingly, (for a 5.5%)… What is it you’ve gone for? Currently making short work of a St Austell Proper Job here. Lovely stuff. Wondering what other recommendations there might be.

Summer beers… on 07:26 - Jun 21 by ITFC_Forever | Korev is amazing, there’s only a couple of supermarkets up this way that stock it though. Tribute is also nice, along with Doom Bar…. The Cornish know how to make a decent beer. |
Not forgetting Skinners, whilst praising Cornish beers. They brew some lovely ones: Betty Stogs, Cornish Knocker (now, sadly only a seasonal ale) and Lushingtons amongst them.

Summer beers… on 06:33 - Jun 21 by Sikamikanico | Depending on mood... Stour Valley Gold from Nethergate just outside Long Melford Almost anything by Roughacre in Clare Supermarket Ale wise it'll be Proper Job or Ghost Ship. Lager I normally end up with Aldi's Rheinbacher. |
Used to love a Rheiny, but they have changed the brewer recently and it's not quite the same! My lager of choice currently would be something Italian like a Moretti or similar. Ale wise you can't go wrong with a Oakham Citra or a Summer Dream (elderflower IPA) from Green Jack
Summer beers… on 09:49 - Jun 21 with 734 views | clive_baker | I think you have to go a long way to beat Asahi tbh. Especially for something so mass market and so widely distributed in the supermarkets. Lovely drop. I find beer, perhaps more so than any other food or drink so occasion and serve dependant in terms of enjoyment. A nice pizza is a nice pizza, to a lesser extent a nice wine is a nice wine, but a beautifully poured beer from draught or bottle, in an ice cold glass while sitting in the sun with friends or family etc is the best beer going. Hotel balcony beers are a good one. 7pm pre dinner as the afternoon heat is starting to cool off slightly. That first sip post sport is a great one too.

Have they? Not had one this year as I normally drink dark ales in winter and we recently had a baby so not been drinking since then. Lager wise I may go for something Polish now. I do like Green Jack beers but don;t see them too often near me. Maybe because I tried Ghost Ship first I never really took to Citra.

Morretti is a decent drop, I'm quite enjoying Estrella Gallacia at the moment

That may be true of lager... but then lager isn't really a thing of taste, is it?! I was talking more grown up beer.

Yup I believe so. Brexit innit :) Think it's contract brewed at Tennants now if my memory serves me correct. The 0% alcohol one is brewed in France. Shame. Not really had many polish beers....seem to associate them with high strength low quality stuff from the corner shop, but that's my ignorance! Any recommendations?

Nothing wrong with a ten pack of those little french stubbies chilled right down! Reminds me of my Yoof sitting in dad's kitchen with my mates necking a few and feeling like we were all grown up :)

I used to think the same but there are a lot of decent ones being produced now :) If you avoid the carlings of this world you can get some really interesting stuff......some lager only breweries such as Utopian are making black lagers, viennas, kellers, pilsners.... Bit of a beer geek! Can you tell

I tend to only have lager when on holiday - such as aforementioned Efes in Turkey - which I found to be alright, but it's slightly more malty than standard lager we tend to have here.

We used to drink them down the side of the garage when we were about 12. Warm French stubbies (parents used to store them by the box in the garage). Probably explains my rather pathetic taste buds when it comes to beer now!

Summer beers… on 20:27 - Jun 20 by factual_blue | You're a day early. Summer starts tomorrow at 04.30 at the UK's most easterly town. |
So the start of summer is on the 21st, and midsummer is on the 24th. So that means it's all done and dusted by next Tuesday presumably?

This resonates with me so much. Nicking a few stubbies from my dads selection with my mates in the summer holidays while my parents were at work. What a buzz when you pop that lid off. Warm, overly fizzy in your mouth. Maybe even a lambert & butler to accompany it that your mate had somehow got his hands on. Regretting both immediately.
