You do know that footballers are human don't you? He can't help being upset if this is true and if it was decided it was better for his mental health to not play him then it is the right call. He is an employee just like all of the rest of us are at our jobs.

I’m all for compassion but if you think it’s alright for a professional footballer to miss a game because of a dead dog, you need to take a look at yourself! This takes the millennial generation to a new level.
If this was the case, imagine him having to take a penalty in a shoot out.

I don't believe there's anything in this either, nor do I have a dog but some people are absolutely crazy about their dogs. They are proper members of the family. To dismiss it like you have is not very nice. I've known people who went to pieces one their dog died.

I met my eldest dog when I was in my 20s and she died when I was in my mid 40s.
She never cheated on me, nor left me nor tried to steal my home, (though she did steal food from time to time and get hair everywhere). I should think many people spend more time with their dogs than any other member of their family.
It's not hard to see what an impact dogs have on people's lives.
Absolutely correct. The players all held twenty minutes' silence and chipped in for a diamante dog coffin. Really sensitive subject tho, so don't bring it up.

Why on earth has being compassionate about a family let got to do with taking a pressure penalty?
Do you think because some people are good at kicking a ball that they automatically have superhero mental strength as well?

That said, I don't believe the story either.
If a player ever missed a game because of a dead dog, good luck to him! A football changing room is a very brutal environment and gets worse the higher you go. I’m not here to debate the rights and wrongs of that but I doubt some of the ‘snowflakes’ on here would last five minutes as part of a football team.
